IN SHORT: Multiple fake Facebook pages using the name “Helping Hands” and featuring Nigerian celebrities’ photos are directing interested users to WhatsApp and asking for upfront fees to access financial help. This is a scam. A number of Facebook pages, including Helping hands organization , Helping hand organization , Helping Hands Organization, Helping hands foundation, Helping hands organization and Helping Hands Foundation, are claiming to offer financial assistance to Nigerians. The pages use images of popular Nigerian celebrities to appear legitimate, and instruct users to send messages to the listed phone numbers to access the supposed funds. One post dated 10 April 2026 reads: “07017584428 Account number for parents and student only fastest Fingers Ending tomorrow.” It features a photo of popular actor Peju Ogunmola. Other posts on the page use photos of other celebrities, including Mercy Johnson, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko. Another post features a photo of another Nollywood actor, Lizzy Anjorin, claiming she is celebrating her birthday and offering a cash reward to anyone who sends her a birthday message on WhatsApp. The posts include either a link to a WhatsApp contact or a phone number attached, encouraging users to send a direct message to the contact.
