SF: Older Sunset District Residents Celebrate Reopening Of Clubhouse – SFGATE

(Alise Maripuu/Bay City News) Alise Maripuu/Bay City News A crowd of city officials and older residents gathered Thursday to cut the ribbon on a new clubhouse in San Francisco’s Sunset District after several years of planning and renovations. “These improvements are ultimately about making this clubhouse more local and still better able to serve the people who rely on it every day,” Supervisor Alan Wong, who represents parts of the Sunset District, said in a speech. Article continues below this ad The South Sunset Clubhouse, located at 40th Avenue and Vicente Street, was renovated into a 2,000-square-foot space. The current tenant is Self-Help for the Elderly, a nonprofit that provides services for older residents like meals, activities, and home care. “For hundreds of seniors, this is a place to share meals, take a fitness class, or meet a friend,” said Mayor Daniel Lurie in a speech. “Today, that community has a new space to call its own.” The new clubhouse features a multi-purpose room, a kitchen, restrooms, and an office.
