BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Five players scored in double figures as the St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team defeated Alfred, 101-40, in its preseason exhibition on Wednesday night (Oct. 29) at the Reilly Center. All 11 active Bonnies appeared in the scoring column. First Half: Alfred jumped out to an early 11-5 lead after shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc to start the game. St. Bonaventure immediately responded with a 23-2 run to take an insurmountable lead that it would not relinquish. Fifteen of the Bonnies’ 23 points during the run came from three-pointers. Later in the first half, the Bonnies extended their first half lead with an 11-0 run led by Cayden Charles , who scored seven points in just over two-and-a-half minutes to extend SBU’s lead to 48-21. After the Saxons made a three before the break, St. Bonaventure took a 48-24 lead into halftime. Second Half: The Bonnies picked up right where they left off, starting the second half with a 7-0 run. After Alfred buried a three to cut the SBU lead to 55-30, the Bonnies held the Saxons without a field goal for the next 14:47. St.
