MANSON — Sheriff’s deputies say a group of teenage girls who were targeted online by a convicted sex offender turned the tables on him, unearthing his identity and alerting police.Four teenagers in the Manson area reported receiving Snapchat solicitations from the same user in 2021, who claimed to be a 17-year-old Cashmere resident. But according to Chelan County sheriff deputies’ affidavits, they then traced the account to Bernardino Dwite Hamilton, a 27-year-old Manson man with prior convictions for child molestation. When interviewed by sheriff’s deputies, Hamilton allegedly admitted to contacting five juvenile girls using a smartphone he was not permitted to have under terms of his probation. He told deputies he was remorseful for his actions.Hamilton was booked into the Chelan County jail on Thursday. Deputies are asking the Chelan County prosecuting attorney to press five charges of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.
