The Tualatin Police Department arrested a minor in connection with alleged threats of violence made towards Hazelbrook Middle School following a viral video last week, which included a trans-identified male violently beating a female student. Authorities evacuated the school on Sept. 29 after threats of violence were posted on Snapchat the day prior and sent to the school via email that morning. According to the school district, the email included detailed bomb threats against the school, staff, and the homes of the superintendent and board members, along with their personal addresses, KGW8 reports. In a joint statement on Wednesday, the Tualatin Police Department, Washington County Juvenile Department, and Tigard-Tualatin School District announced the arrest of the minor and that further safety protocols have been put in place. “The youth alleged to be responsible for the social media threat has been arrested by the Tualatin Police Department,” the joint statement reads. “While we cannot disclose the current status of the youth responsible for the threat in terms of enrollment, we assure students and parents that measures have been implemented to ensure their safety at Hazebrook Middle School and all TTSD schools since the threat was made,” they said.
