AKRON, Ohio — Akron selected Marty Whims II as the winner of the Offensive Coordinator of the Game promotion, presented by Arby’s Steak Nuggets. Whims worked with head coach Joe Moorhead to design the script for Akron’s opening drive against Robert Morris on Sept. 12, 2026, at InfoCision Stadium — Summa Health Field. An Akron graduate and longtime football season-ticket holder, Whims serves as CFO for Stark Enterprises. Watch our documentary of the contest, from start to game day. HOW THE PROMOTION WORKED The Offensive Coordinator of the Game contest drew interest and season-ticket members from across the country and around the world. The original launch post generated more than 25 million views, and Akron sold out InfoCision Stadium’s suites for the first time. Each season ticket held by an eligible season-ticket holder counted as one entry in the random drawing. Season-ticket holders earned additional entries for successful referrals of new season-ticket holders. Athletics partnered with Akron’s College of Business and the George W. Daverio School of Accountancy to manage the selection process. The school analyzed ticketing data and conducted an independent random selection of one eligible winner.
