TikTok's TV-Focused App Expands to Smart TVs From LG, Samsung – PCMag India

TikTok is expanding its presence to even more smart TV models. On Monday, TikTok announced its TV-focused app is arriving in North America for LG and Samsung smart TVs, and TVs and Chromecast devices that run Google TV or Android TV. The expansion comes after a TV version of the TikTok app first arrived on Amazon Fire TV devices in the US and Canada on Nov. 1.The app’s main feature lets you enjoy TikTok on a bigger screen, instead of merely on a smartphone or laptop. Of course, you could also screen cast TikTok’s mobile app to a TV. But now you can free up your phone by running TikTok directly on an applicable smart TV. “The big-screen experience allows families and friends to easily enjoy TikTok together,” the video-sharing platform wrote in the announcement. In addition, the app will help TikTok better compete against the likes of YouTube and Netflix for views. TikTok adds that the app is specifically designed for TV home-viewing experience.
