The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, faced the Mackay District Court on Friday charged with unlawful choking or strangulation and assault causing bodily harm. Crown prosecutor Tiffany Lawrence said an argument provoked the 31-year-old man to grab his partner, whom he shared a child with, around the neck. Ms Lawrence said she tried to walk away but was pursued and choked again in an attempt to stop her actions attracting the police to their address where he was not supposed to because of a domestic violence order.
