Troy University is now offering classes on-site for Airmen at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, South Carolina, as part of a new educational partnership. The agreement, signed last fall, paved the way for TROY to begin teaching classes on base in January. The partnership was formally celebrated on Tuesday, June 17, with a signing ceremony at Shaw, featuring officials from both TROY and the base leadership. “At Troy University, we take great pride in our service to America’s military men and women and their families,” said Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor. “Because of our long history of military support, TROY understands the unique needs of military students, and we remain committed to helping them succeed in their educational and career pursuits. We look forward to working with the leadership at Shaw to provide convenient access to TROY degree programs right here on base.” Through the new program, TROY will offer a variety of in-person classes at Shaw, including courses in communications, English, psychology, and leadership. Students enrolled at Shaw can also access TROY’s full slate of online courses while benefiting from on-site support and resources provided by University faculty and staff.
