As social media platforms face more and more crackdowns worldwide banning teens from engaging with social media, Twitch has rolled out a new parental control setting that could keep minors from going live. Now, to be clear, Twitch–like most social platforms–already prevents anyone under age 13 from making an account and/or becoming a streamer. It’s taken action to enforce that rule in the past, perhaps most notably with H1ghSky1, a Fortnite streamer who joined FaZe Clan and began streaming when he was 12 years old. After Twitch banned his account, H1ghSky1 swapped over to streaming on YouTube, which does allow under-13s to have their own accounts, as long as those accounts are (at least supposedly) supervised by a parent.
