Twitter employees resign after Elon Musk issued deadline – USA Today

A mounting number of Twitter employees appeared to resign after Elon Musk asked workers to decide by Thursday evening if they wanted to continue at the social media giant, according to multiple reports.  USA TODAY has reached out to Twitter for comment. Musk told employees this week they “will need to be extremely hardcore” to build “a breakthrough Twitter 2.0,” and working long hours in a high-intensity environment would be part of that push.Musk asked employees to hit “yes” on a link in an email if they wanted to be part of the “new Twitter” by 5 p.m. Eastern on Thursday. Employees who did not reply “yes” would receive three months of severance. And a pool of employees have resigned as of Thursday evening, according to multiple reports citing unidentified current and former employees. Internal communications channels were filled with an emoji signaling a salute, an apparent symbol of leaving the company.  Hundreds of Twitter employees appeared to have made the decision to leave, according to multiple reports. Musk last month completed a $44 billion takeover of the social media platform, which has already laid off thousands of employees.
