In our opinion, Duke has had four points guards who stand above the rest: Tommy Amaker, Bobby Hurley, Jon Scheyer and Tyus Jones. The first three were at Duke for four years, but Jones of course was only here for one year, which resulted in the 2015 national championship. At Duke, he quickly established himself as one of the smartest guards in school and possibly NCAA history. In that sense, he was a bit of a prodigy. Amaker led Duke to the national title game and a 37-win season, while Hurley had back-to-back championships and Scheyer helped Duke to the 2010 championship. None of that happened before any of the three were at least juniors. In this video, you get a sense of just how promising Jones was. He scored 45 for Apple Valley here, and he was just a sophomore.
