Courtesy of the New Haven Police Department NEW HAVEN — New Haven police are investigating two similar robberies tied to Facebook Marketplace reported hours apart on Saturday. In both cases, the suspect had a gun or pretended to have a gun, according to New Haven police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart. He said the suspect’s description was the same in both incidents. Article continues below this ad The first robbery was reported just before 6 p.m. and Bruckhart said officers responded to the 20 block of Batter Terrace. “The victim contacted the suspect on Facebook Marketplace, where they agreed to meet to sell a cell phone,” he said in an email Monday. During the meeting, the suspect pretended to have a gun but didn’t display one, Bruckhart said. He said the suspect took the phone and fled. The second robbery was reported just before 8:30 p.m. in the 80 block of Diamond Street.
