Volleyball opens MVC slate at Meeks Family Fieldhouse – University of Evansville Athletics

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Missouri Valley Conference play opens this weekend when the University of Evansville volleyball team welcomes Southern Illinois and Bradley to Meeks Family Fieldhouse. UE hosts the Salukis at 6 p.m. Friday before taking on the Braves at 5 p.m. Saturday with ESPN+ carrying both matches.   Last Time Out – Last Saturday, the Purple Aces outlasted USI in a 5-set thriller as Ryan Scheu matched her career high with 15 kills – Savannah Gogel added her top tally of 14 kills along with seven blocks and Wren Jones completed the win with 13 kills   Valley Honor – Following her first week of action this season, Savannah Gogel was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Week – Gogel completed the week with an average of 1.27 blocks and 2.55 kills per set – Highlighting her week was a 14-kill, 7-block effort in the win over USI – Her kill total was a career-best while the 7 blocks matched her career mark   Reaching 20 – In four of the last six matches, Kendall Agler has finished with at least 20 digs – Highlighting the stretch was a career-best 31 digs in the road win at Tennessee
