For the first time in a decade, the Peoria area is home to a Class 3A Illinois High School Association boys basketball state champion.The Metamora Redbirds of the Mid-Illini Conference won the school’s first title in the sport after a 46-42 victory over Chicago Simeon on Saturday night in Champaign.It was another dramatic finish for Metamora, which lost the title game last season when Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin won in double-overtime, 53-50.Redbirds Run: Every story from Metamora’s run to the Class 3A basketball championshipNot this time.
