Wiltshire Police officer sent sexual communications to child – Swindon Advertiser

A former Wiltshire Police officer who sent sexual messages to a girl on Snapchat has been banned from the force. After his conviction, Barry Geering, 44, now of Ealing, London, had an allegation of Gross Misconduct upheld at an accelerated misconduct hearing yesterday. The hearing, which took place on Tuesday, July 22 and was chaired by Assistant Chief Constable Deb Smith, who found that he had breached standards of professional behaviour, namely honesty, integrity and discreditable conduct. Geering attempted sexual communication with a child under 16 by using Snapchat. He was identified and arrested in April 2024 as part of a proactive operation by a team at South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU), who work alongside a national network of officers tackling offences online, including child sexual abuse and exploitation.    He was originally based in Swindon.  The 44-year-old pleaded guilty to the offence at Bristol Magistrates’ Court on May 13.
