Shocking WhatsApp texts between residents of a South London building showed their rising concern over the welfare of a neighbour, as her body lay undiscovered for two and a half years. Sheila Seleoane’s severely decomposed body was eventually found on February 18, 2022, after police forced entry to her third-storey flat at The Lords Court in Peckham. Neighbours had made repeated complaints of a bad smell to the housing association, the Peabody Trust, and had raised concerns that she was missing or dead, but no action was taken. Police had also visited the retired medical secretary’s home on two occasions in October 2020 at the request of residents, but her body was not discovered.
