Business Insider’s Post When Annie Lu got hired at Atlassian as a product marketing manager in late 2022, it was a dream come true. For the first few months, she was working on projects that leveraged her interests and skill set. She also loved the culture, the hybrid work schedule, and her colleagues. After a while, Lu noticed Atlassian following the growing trend in Big Tech of increasing structural reorganizations, layoffs, and cost cuts. As priorities shifted, she slowly stopped being assigned to projects that felt impactful, creative, and aligned with her skillset. In early 2025, she hit a wall when she felt her body shutting down. Lu took a 12-week medical leave to recover, but it only made things clearer. When she returned, she quit, and it was one of the hardest decisions she’s ever made.
