BALTIMORE—Adley Rutschman’s first day as a visitor started with a quick visit to the Orioles clubhouse to exchange some hugs and jokes with his former teammates. Rutschman, who was traded from the Orioles to the Boston Red Sox on August 3rd, is back in the Red Sox lineup, batting third and catching in Thursday night’s game. “A lot of memories, a lot of positive memories, good interactions with guys,” Rutschman said to a large horde of media in Boston’s clubhouse. “They were texting me, saying, ‘make sure you don’t take the right turn to the dugout after you ground out.’” Rutschman, who missed four games with a hyperextended right elbow, returns to the lineup and will surely receive a warm ovation. “I’ve talked with a couple of guys just about how it’s gone for them when they’ve been traded and going back,” he said. “I want to be in the lineup for every game, but it just worked out today, just feeling good and just able to be back in there.” Rutschman is batting .170 with a home run and four RBIs in 15 games.  » Read More

Students in the Boys and Girls Club’s Teen Outreach Program held a community event at the clubhouse in Lawrenceville. (Courtesy of the Boys and Girls Club) Staff at the Lawrenceville-based Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania say its teen outreach program yielded more positive behaviors among students it serves. They plan to continue the momentum with additional state funding secured this year. Over the past three years, teens from the seven school districts in the program completed a total of 25,231 service hours. Projects have included launching free resource stores for classmates in need and honoring veterans. “It’s creating healthier minds for teens who now understand more about themselves, their peers and their community,” said Hersh Merenstein, the club’s senior director of advancement. The program focuses on social-emotional learning, community service and youth voice, said Marissa Redding, community programs director. Participating schools are The Neighborhood Academy in Pittsburgh and the school districts of Duquesne City, Clairton, Sto-Rox, Aliquippa, Laurel Highlands and Somerset Area. The Padres announced the injury on their official X account Sunday. Rengifo suffered the injury on a non-contact play in the seventh inning, and the club will now wait for additional testing to determine the severity of the issue. The timing is particularly unfortunate for Rengifo, who had provided a noticeable offensive boost since joining San Diego earlier this season.
