Top Russian naval commander latest general to be killed by Ukraine

A Ukrainian strike killed a decorated Russian naval commander in Russia’s Kursk region, officials said Thursday, the latest high-ranking general killed by Ukraine since the war began. Maj. Gen. Mikhail Gudkov was the deputy commander in chief of the navy and previously led a brigade battling Ukrainian forces. The Defense Ministry confirmed Thursday that Gudkov died while working in the border area in the Kursk region, near Ukraine. Gudkov was reportedly killed on Tuesday night. In August, Ukraine led a major operation, capturing and occupying a large part of the Kursk region for nine months until the area was mostly retaken by Russian forces in the spring. Ukrainian forces have since remained on a sliver of land at the border where fighting has continued. Oleg Kozhemyako, the governor of Primorye, a far eastern Russian region, confirmed Gudkov’s death in a statement posted to the Telegram messaging app. Gudkov had commanded the 155th Marine Brigade, which was stationed in Primorye, before being appointed to the leadership of the navy. The governor, who was personally acquainted with Gudkov,  » Read More

‘Ambitious’ new clubhouse proposed for growing club – Sunshine Coast News

A long-standing rugby club is planning a major clubhouse redevelopment that would transform its headquarters into a modern, state-of-the-art facility. Located at Sunshine Beach, Noosa District Rugby Union has been the home of the Noosa Dolphins since the 1980s. Originally built in 1992 at Bicentennial Drive to service a senior team, the current clubhouse is outdated and undersized for the organisation, which now fields three senior teams, 20 junior teams, women’s and girls’ teams, and school-based rugby programs. Lodged with Noosa Council, the proposal seeks to replace the ageing building with a two-storey, purpose-built venue featuring modern change rooms, spectator amenities, social areas and improved accessibility. According to a town planning report, submitted by RG Strategic on behalf of the club, the ground level would feature four adaptable player change rooms, referee change rooms, a first aid room, kitchen and canteen, plus accessible spectator toilets. The upper level would house a large clubroom with bar and wraparound decks, a media room, meeting space and a Wall of Fame honouring club history.  » Read More

Get Buyers’ Association Registered, RERA Tells Builder – Deccan Chronicle

Hyderabad: The Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has rejected the application of Vazhraa Nirmaan Private Limited for registering Blocks G and H of its Vazhraa Prathik Apartments Phase III. RERA found that the builder continued to claim private ownership over key portions of the project’s clubhouse, which the authority had declared as a common area. In March, the residents' association filed a complaint that the developer had built a compound wall restricting access to the clubhouse. RERA had directed the builder to transfer ownership of the clubhouse to the residents. In its application for registering Blocks G and H, the builder included a term — Clause 34 in the Agreement for Sale — which again claimed rights over parts of the clubhouse and allowed access to outsiders. The promoter also cited a pending writ petition in the High Court to justify its position but failed to obtain any stay or relief from the court. RERA noted that all common areas, including amenities like clubhouses, must be handed over to the residents' association and cannot be retained or commercialised by the developer.  » Read More

Aldrich Potgieter, PGA Tour’s Youngest Player And Biggest Hitter, Leads Rocket Classic By 2 Strokes

DETROIT (AP) — Aldrich Potgieter, standing on the practice green at Detroit Golf Club, said the most challenging part of his life was moving to Australia when he was 8 and returning to South Africa at age 17 because the COVID-19 pandemic limited his opportunities to compete. Potgieter is about to face another test. The PGA Tour’s youngest player and biggest hitter is going into the final round of the Rocket Classic with a two-shot lead, hoping to hold off a pack of players, including Collin Morikawa, for his first victory on the circuit. “The leaderboard’s so stacked,” Potgieter said after he had five straight birdies in a 7-under 65 to surge into the lead Saturday. The 20-year-old tour rookie started the week averaging 326.6 yards off the tee — several yards longer than Rory McIlroy — and credits his multi-sport childhood. “I played a lot of sports, rugby, wrestling,” the 5-foot-11, 211-pound Potgieter said. “Kind of did everything as a kid. Didn’t just focus on golf, so that kind of helped me build that strong foundation.” Max Greyserman (66),   » Read More
