Salesforce Email Hack Used To Bait Facebook Phishing Trap – Tech.co

Salesforce, the software company behind one of the best CRMs for sales, has released out a patch for its email services after security researchers discovered a zero-day vulnerability that allowed hackers to target Facebook users with a convincing phishing scam. The actively exploited bug was discovered by the team at Guardio Labs and has been dubbed “PhishForce”. It made use of a flaw in Salesforce's “email-to-case” feature – which lets users automate the creation of tickets for customer queries – to send outbound emails purporting to be from Meta Platforms via the official “@case.salesforce.com” domain. Not only did these emails look genuine to the recipients, but they evaded Facebook's built-in phishing detection defenses as well, once again highlighting how even the most robust antivirus software and related solutions can be duped by gaps in the security architecture of popular products. Worker awarded €10500 after she was sacked over 'hate speech' Facebook post – The Irish Times

A worker who was sacked because her bosses believed a Facebook post they linked to her had criticised Ukrainian refugees for leaving the war zone and was “hate speech” has won over €10,500 for unfair dismissal.Irene Glynn said her employer, the Carlow Dental Centre, gave her no opportunity to defend herself before sacking her. She also submitted that her account “could have been hacked for all the respondent knew” – adding that what a member of the public saw and reported “may not have been a posting” she made. The Workplace Relations Commission found the Carlow Dental Centre had had failed to investigate the allegation against Ms Glynn and that the matter could perhaps have merited a warning, but not dismissal. The tribunal upheld Ms Glynn’s complaint under the Unfair Dismissals Act 1977 against Carlow Dental Centre in a decision published this morning, as well as awarding her statutory notice pay under the Minimum Notice and Terms of Employment Act, 1973.“Ireland is on its knees;  » Read More

Cambodia's leader returns to Facebook while Meta mulls suspension – Rest of World

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen is back on Facebook. One month after dramatically quitting the platform and nearly banning it from the country entirely, his 14 million followers can find dozens of fresh posts on his page — sharing news updates, patriotic music videos, and even posed photos from a day on the golf course. The posts are now signed off as “managed and promoted” by his adviser Duong Dara, hinting that the leader hasn’t fully forgiven his favorite social network. It’s the result of a strange stalemate between one of the internet’s largest platforms and one of the longest-serving heads of state in the world. At the end of June, the independent Oversight Board found that a speech made by Hun Sen qualified as inciting violence and recommended that Meta suspend him from their platforms for a minimum of six months. Sen responded by preemptively quitting — but the weeks since have shown a surprising indifference from Meta over the prime minister’s ongoing presence on Facebook.  In a statement after the ruling,  » Read More

When he took out his 'member' we took it as a direct threat. Our officers on the scene fired 47 shots into the suspect. While Deputy Michael is currently on investigative leave (with bonus pay,) we've been slandered by the liberal media. We feel justified in our actions — and we will gladly unload on any 'woman' we see fit. We hope the community understands — but we know you back us. Thank you for your support."'Found trapped but alert': Hopedale man missing for more than 24 hours is savedIt's unclear to whom "Deputy Michael" refers.  » Read More

Facebook settlement checks: Can you still get a payment if you deleted your account?

(NEXSTAR) – Facebook users still have a few weeks to claim their piece of a $725 million settlement Meta agreed to pay to resolve a lawsuit. Ex-Facebook users can get in on the action too, as long as they meet a few criteria. The main requirement is that you had a Facebook account for any time between May 24, 2007, and Dec. 22, 2022. You also need to have been a United States resident during that period of time. Even people who deleted their Facebook account qualify – they’re just likely to see a smaller payout. How big your check ends up being depends in part on how long your account was active. People have until Aug. 25, 2023 to file a claim, either online or by mail. After the deadline passes, a judge will need to give the settlement final approval. That hearing is set for Sept. 7. If the settlement gets the final OK, it’s not yet clear when the payments will be sent out – but you might not need to wait for a check in the mail.  » Read More
