School board president makes anti-ICE Facebook post | News – Manhattan Mercury

USD 383 school board president Jayme Morris-Hardeman on Thursday attracted attention for an anti-ICE post on Facebook. Morris-Hardeman, who in November was re-elected to the Manhattan-Ogden board and in January became president, commented on a friend’s post “Thank you for being an amazing support for all our students. And F*** ICE.” The post to which she was responding was an image that said, “Every student. Every background. Every identity. Every learner. Every story.” Morris-Hardeman did not immediately respond to calls for comment on Friday. The post was still up as of Friday afternoon. This follows an incident in September in which fellow board member Katie Allen made a controversial post about the death of political influencer Charlie Kirk. Allen had replied to a post with a quote from Kirk, and she replied, “Well deserved.” She lost her job at the state department of education and is suing them. Parents and the other board members asked Allen to step down, but she declined. The school board in December voted to add a clause to its board member ethics policy: “Always act in a professional and constructive manner and use sound judgement when communicating in person or electronically,  » Read More

Louisville man accused of selling fake temporary tags on Facebook Marketplace – WDRB

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office arrested a third person for selling fake temporary tags in Kentucky. Terrance Whitehead, 31, is accused of illegally selling the fake registration plates in west Louisville through Facebook Marketplace. Whitehead was arrested Tuesday after undercover detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office pretended to be interested in buying the temporary tags. The sheriff's office said when officers moved in, Whitehead fled on foot but was quickly arrested. Through their investigation, detectives determined one of the tags was fraudulent, and the second was a duplicate of a legitimate temporary tag.  Whitehead allegedly told police the tags "came from an uncle who worked at a dealership," but investigators said that claim "does not align with the evidence uncovered." He was charged with stealing, producing, copying or illegally acquiring a temporary vehicle tag, fleeing or evading police and criminal possession of a forged instrument. Whitehead also faces charges in a similar case earlier this year involving 25 temporary tags. He pleaded not guilty in both cases and is due back in court next week.  » Read More
