Facebook, Instagram pages disabled after being wrongly accused of ‘child endangerment …

CHICAGO (WLS) -- Viewers turned to the ABC7 I-Team, saying that Meta unfairly disabled their Facebook and Instagram accounts. In all four cases the I-Team looked into, the account holders said that they were wrongly accused of "child endangerment" and their Facebook and or Instagram pages disappeared. Some people have gotten their pages back, but they all say the appeals process is frustrating. ABC7 Chicago is now streaming 24/7. South suburban Homewood mother Natalie Martinez was in disbelief when she saw her Instagram account was disabled. Photos, memories and messages were all gone. "And next thing you know, I'm getting notifications on my phone from email, from Instagram telling me your account has been suspended," Martinez said. NEFSA names Bonnie Brady policy director, Jason Joyce advocacy lead

The New England Fishermen’s Stewardship Association (NEFSA) has announced two new leadership appointments aimed at strengthening its policy and advocacy work on behalf of fishermen and coastal communities. Bonnie Brady has been named NEFSA’s new policy director, while Capt. Jason Joyce will serve as director of advocacy. Brady has served as the executive director of the Long Island Commercial Fishing Association since its founding in 2001, working to educate policymakers and the public about the value and realities of commercial fishing. She serves on advisory panels under both the Mid-Atlantic Fishery Management Council and the New England Fishery Management Council and is a founding board member of the Responsible Offshore Development Alliance. Brady was also recognized as National Fisherman Highliner of the year in 2020.  Joyce, an eighth-generation Swan’s Island, Maine, fisherman, brings more than 40 years on the water, primarily in the lobster fishery.  » Read More

‘It’s Way Easier This Way’: Facebook Has Announced That Instead Of Flagging All The … – ClickHole

Whether you’re a META stockholder or just a casual Facebook user, get ready to get pumped, because Facebook is making a major change that’s going to make everyone’s lives so much easier: Facebook has announced that instead of flagging all the misinformation, they’re just going to start flagging the actual information.  So much yes! Talk about improving efficiency.  Despite significantly reducing their threshold for what can be considered misinformation after Trump’s reelection in 2024, Facebook still has its hands full with attempting to control the misinformation and blatant propaganda that frequently circulates on its site. From foreign bot farms to AI deepfakes, a tipping point has been reached where the vast majority of posts circulating Facebook are dubious, misleading, and downright harmful. But a simple tweak to their misinformation policy is about to make the lives of Facebook’s fact checkers and users alike so much easier, as Facebook will now operate on the presumption that every post you see is bullshit unless it’s specifically denoted as not being such.  “From now on, if you see something on Facebook,  » Read More
