I recently came across a Facebook post of a man in his 40s who was seriously considering leaving his current career and becoming a radio personality. That post should scare everyone in this industry. Not because of the question, but because of the answers. What got my attention were the comments and words of “advice”, following the post, from those in and NOT in the industry. Allow me to share a few, anonymously, of course: It’s a bad time to join that industry. Even the big-time veterans are getting let go. Large radio companies are layoff factories right now. Many extremely talented radio people are either struggling to find work or have just decided to change career paths. Not worth the time, major effort, and money for embarrassment! The FDA has scolded Pfizer over Facebook ads for the cancer drug Adcetris, accusing the Big Pharma of failing to adequately communicate the indication, contraindications and risks. Continuing a wave of actions against drug ads in recent weeks, the FDA sent (PDF) Pfizer an untitled letter outlining its issues with promotional materials for the CD30-directed antibody-drug conjugate Adcetris. The FDA ruled the Facebook ads misbrand Adcetris and make distributing the drug a violation of the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. FDA officials found fault with video ads that made statements such as: “Recently diagnosed with T-cell lymphoma?” and: “A new T-cell lymphoma diagnosis brings many questions.” In the FDA’s view, the claims suggest Adcetris is approved for the general treatment of T-cell lymphoma. Undocumented New Yorkers are being targeted on Facebook and other online platforms by scammers masquerading as pro bono immigration services, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg said Friday in a letter to Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. The DA urged the tech giant to install safeguards to clamp down on the quickly growing racket. Bragg said victims have typically been sending their payment money outside the U.S., making it difficult for authorities to recover stolen funds. He said scammers have been impersonating legal organizations and religious groups, like Catholic Charities of Baltimore, Catholic Charities of Greater Houston, and Catholic Charities of Trenton. “Imposter accounts are using your company’s platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp, to falsely pose as pro bono legal services organizations,” Bragg wrote. “Those scammers then communicate with unsuspecting victims and claim to be lawyers offering immigration services. It has been nearly a week since she vanished at sea, and Lynette Hooker’s husband of 25 years has spent the past several days in custody in the Bahamas, where he’s been questioned in connection with her disappearance. An undocumented Haitian man has been charged with murder after repeatedly striking a woman with a hammer outside a convenience store in Florida last week, the latest immigration case thrust into the national spotlight by President Donald Trump. Rolbert Joachin, 40, is in custody and accused by authorities of killing the woman, who has not been publicly identified, during an interaction at a gas station in Fort Myers on April 2, according to court documents.
