"I don't like to manage teams, and it wasn't my intention when we started Asana," Moskovitz said. Moskovitz joins many CEOs, including the former heads of TripAdvisor and Stability AI, in admitting dislike of the job. Some are born to be a CEO. Others have it thrust upon them. Dustin Moskovitz cofounded two large, publicly traded companies. The first was Facebook; he was Mark Zuckerberg's sophomore year roommate. The second was Asana, which he led as CEO for over a decade. Moskovitz stepped down as CEO in July. Despite his history of leadership, he told Stratechery that he didn't love the role. "I don't like to manage teams, and it wasn't my intention when we started Asana," Moskovitz said. "I'd intended to be more of a independent or Head of Engineering or something again." Moskovitz said that he found being a CEO "quite exhausting" and that he was "an introvert." "I had to just kind of put on this face day after day and then in the beginning I was like,  » Read More

The 13th-ranked University of Notre Dame football team (5-2), powered by its offensive line and dynamic running back duo of Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, defeated No. 20 Southern Cal (5-2) 34-24 in a rain-soaked but jubilant sold-out Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday night.  Love rushed for a career-best 228 yards and a touchdown, posting the 18th 200-yard rushing effort in program history. Price added 87 yards, a rushing touchdown and a scintillating 100-yard kick return to seize momentum late in the third quarter.  The offense was not the lone team highlight. The defense forced three turnovers in the second half, perhaps none bigger than captain Adon Shuler’s forced fumble in the fourth quarter, recovered by Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa. Shuler led the team with 10 tackles. HOW IT HAPPENED Southern Cal drove the length of the field quickly on their first possession after receiving the opening kickoff. Two first down passes moved the Trojans across the 50 followed by a 24-yard reception into the red zone. The touchdown came on a toe-tapping reception by tight end Lake McRee in the back corner of the end zone.   » Read More

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Fighting Irish men’s soccer team had to play almost the entire second half with 10 men against No. 6 NC State and fell by a score of 3-0, with all three goals coming in the final 45 minutes of play. Notre Dame is now 7-3-4 on the season and 2-2-2 in ACC play. HOW IT HAPPENED The Irish created the first chance of the evening, as Nolan Spicer played Jack Flanagan down the flank in the opening minute of play but the junior’s effort rolled wide of the far post. In the 19th minute Notre Dame earned a free kick in the attacking half and KK Baffour played a dangerous ball into the area, falling to Diego Ochoa’s feet. The grad student’s shot was right at the Wolfpack keeper. The visitors created a number of half chances throughout the opening 45 minutes of play but were held in check by the Irish defense, as the match was scoreless at the half. The pivotal moment of the contest came just 27 seconds after the intermission,  » Read More

One of my all-time favorite quotes comes from Benjamin Franklin (he had a million of 'em). He once said, "Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see." Oh my goodness, my mind races at the thought of what old Ben would do with social media. Actually, he'd probably have the best page on Facebook, but his consternation over what he would see might be overwhelming, even for a sturdy old bird like him. Suppose Mr. Franklin boarded a time machine (one he probably invented) and popped out in 2025. After spending a lot of time studying this marvel of communication (say what you want about Facebook; it is a marvel), he would then tackle what AI has done for (or to) social media.AI Fakery - Bears, Gators, and BabiesTo paraphrase the disco classic, first he'd be afraid, he'd be petrified. Is a bear really approaching an unattended child on a porch? Did an alligator really return a baby to its mother? Did that cat really just scare that gigantic carnivore away?  » Read More
