#6 Wolfpack Defeat 10-Men Irish At Alumni Stadium – Notre Dame Fighting Irish – Official …

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — The Fighting Irish men’s soccer team had to play almost the entire second half with 10 men against No. 6 NC State and fell by a score of 3-0, with all three goals coming in the final 45 minutes of play. Notre Dame is now 7-3-4 on the season and 2-2-2 in ACC play. HOW IT HAPPENED The Irish created the first chance of the evening, as Nolan Spicer played Jack Flanagan down the flank in the opening minute of play but the junior’s effort rolled wide of the far post. In the 19th minute Notre Dame earned a free kick in the attacking half and KK Baffour played a dangerous ball into the area, falling to Diego Ochoa’s feet. The grad student’s shot was right at the Wolfpack keeper. The visitors created a number of half chances throughout the opening 45 minutes of play but were held in check by the Irish defense, as the match was scoreless at the half. The pivotal moment of the contest came just 27 seconds after the intermission,  » Read More

AI Animal ‘Attack’ Videos Are Fooling Facebook Users – WBKR

One of my all-time favorite quotes comes from Benjamin Franklin (he had a million of 'em). He once said, "Believe none of what you hear and half of what you see." Oh my goodness, my mind races at the thought of what old Ben would do with social media. Actually, he'd probably have the best page on Facebook, but his consternation over what he would see might be overwhelming, even for a sturdy old bird like him. Suppose Mr. Franklin boarded a time machine (one he probably invented) and popped out in 2025. After spending a lot of time studying this marvel of communication (say what you want about Facebook; it is a marvel), he would then tackle what AI has done for (or to) social media.AI Fakery - Bears, Gators, and BabiesTo paraphrase the disco classic, first he'd be afraid, he'd be petrified. Is a bear really approaching an unattended child on a porch? Did an alligator really return a baby to its mother? Did that cat really just scare that gigantic carnivore away?  » Read More

Nebraska resident sues after mayor’s Facebook page deleted her comment – The Independent

A woman in Omaha, Nebraska, is suing the city’s mayor for violating her First Amendment right after he allegedly deleted her comment and blocked her from his official Facebook page after she complained about his failure to fix a large sinkhole near her home. In a lawsuit, filed in Nebraska’s district court Monday, Omaha resident Lisa Kilker claims Mayor John Ewing Jr. deprived her of her right to participate in public discourse and is now preventing her from viewing public announcements. The lawsuit alleges Ewing blocked Kilker from his official Facebook page in early October after she left a comment on a post criticizing him for failing to fulfill his campaign promise of fixing a large sinkhole that opened up in downtown Omaha near her condo building. In the now-deleted comment, Kilker wrote: “The Regis building residents have just had to take out a $1 million loan to pay for repairs for the sinkhole. You ran a campaign on promising to help us.  » Read More

Facebook/Kia Thomp “For all inquiring minds no I’m not in trouble havent been in years at all,” Thompson wrote to begin her fib-filled post. Facebook suspends popular Chicago ICE-sightings group at Trump administration’s request

At the request of the U.S. Department of Justice, a Facebook group used by nearly 80,000 people to report sightings of federal immigration agents in the Chicago area has been taken down by the social media giant Meta, Facebook’s parent company. The group, called ICE Sighting-Chicagoland, has been increasingly used over the last five weeks of “Operation Midway Blitz,” President Donald Trump’s intense deportation campaign, to warn neighbors that federal agents are near schools, grocery stores and other community locations so they can take steps to protect themselves. But the Trump administration has claimed that its agents — nearly all of whom wear face coverings, don’t wear badges and at times drive vehicles without license plates — are “under attack.” “Today, following outreach from the DOJ, Facebook removed a large group page that was being used to dox and target ICE agents in Chicago,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a statement Tuesday. “The wave of violence against ICE has been driven by online apps and social media campaigns designed to put ICE officers at risk just for doing their jobs,” Bondi said.  » Read More

Meta removes ICE-tracking Facebook page in Chicago at the request of the Justice Department

Meta has removed a Facebook page used to track the presence of immigration agents at the request of the Department of Justice, the company confirmed on Tuesday. Meta has removed a Facebook page used to track the presence of immigration agents at the request of the Department of Justice, the company confirmed on Tuesday. Attorney General Pam Bondi said in a post on X that “following outreach” from the DOJ, Facebook removed a “large group page” that was being used to target ICE officials. Meta said in a statement that the group "was removed for violating our policies against coordinated harm.” Meta is the latest tech company to restrict tools used to track ICE agents on its platform. Earlier this month, Apple and Google blocked downloads of phone apps that flag sightings of U.S. immigration agents, just hours after the Trump administration demanded that one particularly popular iPhone app be taken down. Bondi has said that such tracking puts Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers at risk.  » Read More
