Caputo’s Facebook posts draw complaints to integrity commissioner – Sault Ste. Marie News

Recent social media activity by Ward 3 Coun. Angela Caputo has resulted in multiple complaints to the city's integrity commissioner. "I have been notified by the integrity commissioner that complaints have been filed in regards to my Facebook post regarding Charlie Kirk," Caputo confirmed to SooToday tonight. Caputo said she was advised of the complaints on Monday, Sept. 22. They followed this controversial post she made following the assassination of Kirk, a right-wing activist, on Sept. 10 in Orem, Utah: If you're now using your voice to advocate for Charlie Kirk (and ladies, if that's you, just know he would NEVER advocate for you and actually thought you were part of the world's problems if you worked outside of the home) and have never used it to speak out against any other type of gun violence or injustice, you're not speaking up for injustice, you're speaking for white supremacy, misogyny and racism. Whether you realize it or not, you find comfort in people like Charlie (white guys) being able to say whatever they want (hate speech) and have no consequence ("he's just speaking his truth").  » Read More

Troopers say 71-year-old Loren Yannitto, of Smithmill, is accused of having inappropriate contact with the victim, who was identified as a student at Glendale High School, during his time teaching there. According to the affidavit, police say the victim explained that she was first sent a Facebook friend request from Yannitto, when she was in the 7th grade. Investigators learned that sometime after that initial social media interaction, Yannitto was reportedly hired as a substitute teacher at the school. During the teen's 10th grade year, Yannitto is accused of repeatedly sending her Facebook messages where he allegedly talked about other teens,  » Read More

Facebook Adds Fan Challenges and Custom Badges to Woo Creators – WeRSM

Meta is giving Facebook a creator-centric upgrade with two new features: fan challenges and custom top fan badges. Challenges let creators prompt their communities with themes, from cooking with butternut squash to sharing life goals, and fans respond with posts or Reels. Submissions appear on a leaderboard tied to a unique hashtag, tapping into the trend that’s fueled TikTok and Instagram virality. Meta says more than 1.5 million entries have already been submitted during testing. On the engagement side, creators can now personalize top fan badges, transforming generic titles into branded nicknames (think Ed Sheeran’s “Sheerios” or Cardi B’s own twist). Together, the updates underline Facebook’s push to make the platform feel more participatory, and a little more creator-friendly, even as Instagram continues to dominate the cultural conversation.  » Read More

The divide: who really profits in today’s economy? | Technology | The Guardian

Hello, and welcome to TechScape. I spent the weekend wondering about the insistent feeling in the United States that few but the ultra-rich, even businesses, are making enough money to afford the basics of a comfortable life. The New York Times published a story recently about Broadway’s rising costs that featured the grim stat: “None of the musicals that opened last season have made a profit.” The shows’ failure to recoup their investments comes even as Broadway tickets are more expensive than ever before. So who is making any money? More broadly, the rising prices of groceries versus perceived wage stagnation played a significant role in the 2024 presidential election and persists as a major policy issue in the New York City mayoral election, which is a local contest that plays out on a national stage. Despite the high price of food in the US, farmers aren’t raking it in. They face enormous shortfalls, largely due to Trump’s tariffs and China’s retaliation against them. The gap between perception and reality was the subject of a series from the Guardian’s US business desk last year,  » Read More

Upper Moreland Facebook group participant asked ChatGPT to roast Willow Grove – Glenside Local

September 29th, 2025 | By Ryan Genova An anonymous participant in the Upper Moreland Community Complaints Facebook page recently asked ChatGPT to roast Willow Grove. We thought we’d do the same for Glenside, but first, we’re sharing the Willow Grove response (according to the post). Enjoy… Willow Grove is basically a parking lot with delusions of grandeur. The highlight of the entire town used to be a mall that now feels like a hospice center for dead retail chains. The Willow Grove Mall is where teenage dreams go to die between an Auntie Anne’s pretzel and a half-shuttered Macy’s. The traffic on Easton Road is a form of psychological torture that should honestly be studied by the CIA. Every strip mall is the same—nail salon, vape shop, dollar store, rinse, repeat. Willow Grove looks like someone asked, “What if suburbia was beige?” and then just stopped trying. The “attraction” of Willow Grove Park? Please. That amusement park closed in the 70s. Now your biggest thrill ride is dodging potholes and hollering about kids riding bikes and seeing some dog poop.  » Read More

Virginia Named Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Team of the Week

DALLAS (FWAA) – The Virginia Cavaliers knocked off then-No. 8 Florida State in overtime Friday, setting loose a wild celebration as Virginia won its fourth home game of the season, 46-38. For taking its highest-ranked win at Scott Stadium in the last 20 years, Virginia has earned the Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Team of the Week for games the weekend of Sept. 27, as selected by the All-America Committee of the Football Writers Association of America. This is the third time for Virginia (4-1, 2-0 in the ACC) to receive the award from the FWAA and the first time in two seasons since it won at No. 10 North Carolina, 31-27, the weekend of Oct. 21, 2023. The victory was Virginia’s first over a top-10 opponent at Scott Stadium since 2005, when it also knocked off the then-No. 4 Seminoles 26-21, and comes 30 years after the Cavaliers gave then-No. 2 FSU its first conference loss as an ACC member, also at Scott Stadium. It was Virginia’s first win at home over a ranked opponent since defeating then-No.  » Read More
