OLIVIER DOULIERY/AFP via Getty Images Meta is looking to improve user experience on Facebook Dating, the free dating experience on the app, with the introduction of two new features. One of which is an AI assistant that works as a "dating assistant," while the other is a feature that will automatically match a user with another based on an algorithm.Dating AssistantAccording to a blog post published by Meta, the dating assistant is essentially a chat assistant that will offer personalized help. Specifically, the dating assistant can help a user find better matches based on interests and preferences, which can be entered as prompts. "For example, you can write 'Find me a Brooklyn girl in tech' and the dating assistant will help you with your search," Meta says in its post. "You can use the assistant to provide dating ideas or help you level up your profile." To access the dating assistant, » Read More

Read moreDetailsFacebook Dating has added two new AI tools, because clearly a large language model is what the search for love and companionship has been missing all this time. The social media platform introduced a chatbot called dating assistant that can help find prospective dates based on a user's interests. In the blog post announcing the features, the example Meta provided was "Find me a Brooklyn girl in tech." The chatbot can also "provide dating ideas or help you level up your profile." Dating assistant will start a gradual rollout to the Matches tab for users in the US and Canada. And surely everyone will use it in a mature, responsible, not-at-all-creepy fashion. The other AI addition is Meet Cute, which uses a "personalized matching algorithm" to deliver a surprise candidate that it determines you might like. There's no explanation in the blog post about how Meta's algorithm will be assessing potential dates. If you don't want to see who Meta's AI thinks would be a compatible match each week, you can opt out of Meet Cute at any time. » Read More

Since its publication in March, Meta has pushed back on the claims of misconduct in the book, resulting in a $50,000 fine for every breach of the non-disparagement agreement Wynn-Williams signed when she left Facebook in 2017. British politician Louise Haigh, Labour Party member and MP for Sheffield Heeley, came to Wynn-Williams' defense in a debate in the House of Commons on Monday, stating, "Despite previous public statements that Meta no longer uses NDAs in cases of sexual harassment – which Sarah has repeatedly alleged – she is being pushed to financial ruin through the arbitration system in the UK, as Meta seeks to silence and punish her for speaking out. "Meta has served a gagging order on Sarah and is attempting to fine her $50,000 for every breach of that order. » Read More

The Sept. 10 Facebook post, created by Homer-Center School District board member Misty Hunt, was uploaded the same day Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University. “One down, hundreds to go,” Hunt’s post said in white text on a red background, according to TribLive. In a separate post around 11:20 p.m., Hunt explained the caption of the misconstrued post was supposed to be paired with a video of milkweed seeds blowing in the wind, which she releases to help monarch butterfly populations. “So today a tragedy occurred. And I was too busy enjoying nature to know what went down,” Hunt said. “I was in my feels with the beautiful weather and put a bunch of milkweed seed pods in the shed to dry and the one that was opened up I took with me. » Read More
Read moreDetailsWhat started as a simple shed removal turned into an environmental crime when Andrew R. Theriault dumped construction debris on Crown land north of North Bay. Unlawfully depositing hazardous materials on public lands put a local man at odds with the law. Andrew R. Theriault of North Bay was convicted after a trial in absentia of unlawfully depositing materials on public lands, which included shingles, wood, vinyl siding, fiberglass insulation, vapour barrier, and assorted debris. He was fined $8,000. The court heard that on August 8, 2023, a conservation officer discovered two large piles of materials that were dumped on Crown land off Highway 11, in Blyth Township, north of North Bay. The investigation determined that in June 2023, Theriault responded to a Facebook Marketplace advertisement to remove a shed. After removing the structure and sorting through the valuables, Theriault loaded the unwanted materials onto a trailer and took them to a Crown land site north of North Bay, where they were dumped. Conservation officers were initially led to the original owner of the structure, » Read More

By Public Affairs September 19, 2025 In his 2023 book The Entanglement , UC Berkeley philosopher Alva Noë argues that human nature is not a fixed phenomenon, and that art acts as a kind of “strange tool” that actively changes us. “Life and art are entangled,” says Noë, who spoke about his research at a Berkeley event in June 2023. “To say that life and art are entangled is to say not only that we make art out of life, all the habits and systems and meanings and certainties, but that art then works these raw materials over — art works us over, art makes us new. Art makes us.” When we take an everyday object, like a photo, out of its normal setting and hang it in a new place, like an art gallery, it allows us to “reflect on everything our ordinary lives with pictures conceals,” says UC Berkeley philosopher Alva Noë. » Read More

Keegan, who also is a nurse supervisor for Easton Area School District, sparked backlash for Facebook comments attributed to her about Kirk, who was assassinated during an event in Utah. In at least one Facebook post, she allegedly wrote that Kirk was “a monster” and that “his wife and kids are better off without him, as is the rest of the world. Hopefully her next partner will respect women and children.” County council unanimously approved a resolution condemning political violence and calling for civility after many residents in a packed meeting called for unity amid political divisiveness following Kirk's death. The residents also expressed dismay for Keegan's alleged words that they said contributed to the growing divide. Above all, most speakers pressed council to call for Keegan's resignation or impose consequences. Others also said they believe Easton Area School Board should fire Keegan and for the state Board of Nursing to revoke her license. » Read More
