Three men were arrested after attempting a carjacking during a Facebook Marketplace sale in Maryland, said police. A Gaithersburg resident who was selling a BMW met with an interested buyer at the seller’s home on July 22, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police (MCDP). During the meeting, two teenagers with a handgun demanded the BMW keys. The seller dropped the keys and ran, said MCDP officials. (WALB) - 19-year-old Clavon Deon Jones was arrested after Valdosta Police Department (VPD) said he was setting up meetings on Facebook Marketplace, then robbing victims at gunpoint. On July 21, 2025, at 3:30 p.m., Valdosta Police officers responded to Spanish Mission Apartments after a citizen called 911 to report that he had been robbed at gunpoint. According to VPD, the victim told officers that he was attempting to sell a PlayStation 5 to a person he met on Facebook Marketplace when the person pulled a firearm out and pushed it into the victim’s stomach. The victim reported that the offender grabbed the PlayStation 5 and walked away towards the apartments. On July 23, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., officers and detectives responded to the area of Spanish Mission Apartments for another armed robbery. Suspect boasted on Facebook that being wanted is the ‘adult version of hide-and-seek’

A Texas man who boasted on Facebook that having warrants for his arrest “is basically the adult version of hide-and-seek” was arrested days after making the bold claim, authorities said. Authorities in Mart were serving a narcotics search warrant on July 19 when they discovered that some of the people at the scene had outstanding felony warrants unrelated to the drug case. One of the suspects, identified as 54-year-old Fritz Eugene Case, shared a Facebook post a week earlier that read, “Having warrants is basically the adult version of hide-and-seek,” the Mart Police Department said. Authorities in Mart, a small city about 18 miles east of Waco, Texas, didn’t hold back on their jokes at Case’s expense. In the Facebook post, OPD was promoting a blood drive, but in the post to grab attention, it mentioned a gang. This post caught backlash from people saying it was insensitive and racist. The post has since been removed and replaced with a different flyer. City leaders said in a statement:On Saturday afternoon, the City of Owasso was made aware of an inappropriate post on Owasso Police Department's Facebook page. A Facebook profile operating under the name “Citas Consulares PTG” (view page here) is advertising appointment scheduling services for upcoming mobile visits from the Mexican Consulate. This group is falsely claiming to be staffed by county employees and has been requesting a $50 fee—payable by debit card, credit card, or payment apps—for booking an appointment. The Inyo County Health and Human Services Department, in collaboration with Probation and other community agencies, normally coordinates these consulate visits for Inyo and Mono County residents. Appointment scheduling is always free of charge, and no payments are ever requested by the county or the consulate for this service.
