NCC alerts public on fraudulent LinkedIn account impersonating its Executive Vice Chairman

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has drawn public attention to a fraudulent LinkedIn Account impersonating the person, and office of its Executive Vice Chairman (EVC), Mr Umar Garba Danbatta, a professor of enginerring. A statement issued by Reuben Muoka Director, Public Affairs Of NCC said the account was obviously created by some unscrupulous and criminal elements with a view to defrauding unsuspecting members of the public and users of social media who may think that such an account belongs to the EVC of NCC. The statement alerted further: “For the avoidance of doubt, the EVC/CEO of NCC, Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, has no LinkedIn Account. Therefore, any such account found on social media or any other platform, purporting to belong to the EVC of NCC, is fake! “We are working with appropriate security agencies to investigate the source of this fraudulent act with a view to nipping it to the bud. “We urge members of the public, and our esteemed stakeholders to be cautious, and vigilant, while on social media platforms, or in the cyberspace as many of these fraudulent individuals and groups abound, looking for unsuspecting users to defraud. “The Commission has a presence on the Internet with the

Related Companies Acquires $58M Land Parcel in Jersey City – The Real Deal

Related Companies has landed in Jersey City as the company sets its sights on its first multifamily development in the Garden State. Stephen Ross’s firm threw $58 million at Mahbod Nia’s Veris Residential to acquire a significant land parcel in Jersey City, Commercial Observer reported. The Hudson River waterfront site, Harborside 4, will be remade into an 800,000-square-foot luxury multifamily property.  The deal, brokered by Newmark and Cushman & Wakefield, expands Related’s multifamily portfolio beyond major cities like New York, Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Adam Spies and Doug Harmon from Newmark spearheaded the transaction, representing both the buyer and seller and collaborating with teams from Cushman & Wakefield and CBRE.  Veris previously hinted at the sale of Harborside 4 in its second-quarter earnings call, but the real estate investment trust didn’t specific details, keeping the buyer’s identity confidential.  The REIT also mentioned being in the process of selling Harborside 6, a neighboring 245,364-square-foot office building, for $188 million, though the purchaser remained unidentified. The sale of Harborside 4 comes on the heels of the previous sale of Harborside 1, 2, and 3 in April, when 601W Companies acquired the office buildings for $420 million. – James Van Bramer Read

LinkedIn appears to be developing a new AI tool that can help ease the effectively robotic task of looking for and applying to jobs. According to a new leak, the Microsoft-owned company seems to have a new “LinkedIn Coach” assistant in testing that could support you through the application processes, teach you new skills, and help you network on your LinkedIn network.The news comes from app researcher Nima Owji, who uncovers features from various developers that haven’t been deployed yet. In an email, LinkedIn spokesperson Amanda Purvis tells The Verge the company is “always exploring” new ways to improve user experience on the platform. Purvis adds that the company “will have more to share soon.”The image Owji seems to have pulled from LinkedIn suggests users ask the chatbot things like “How does Coach work?” or “What is the culture of Microsoft?” Since LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft, it’s predictable that AI-powered assistants would make their way over to the professional social platform at some point.Microsoft’s been putting chatbots in everything from Bing to the Office document-generating Copilot, which it just announced steep pricing on last week. The company also just launched a coding chatbot for GitHub in beta.
