Stock futures are flat as investors await Wednesday's Federal Reserve rate hike decision

Stock futures were flat Tuesday evening as investors await the Federal Reserve's latest interest rate hike decision in its effort to crush inflation, set to be delivered on Wednesday.Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose 4 points, or 0.01%. Futures tied to the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq 100 ticked up 0.01% and down 0.02%, respectively.Stocks rose for a second day during regular trading on Tuesday, fueled by a cooler-than-anticipated inflation report. The November consumer price index was 7.1% on the year, less than the 7.3% gain expected by economists surveyed by Dow Jones. The 0.1% increase from the previous month was also less than forecast. The signal that inflation may have peaked was positive for stocks as it means the Fed may be one step closer to halting interest rate hikes or switching to cuts, which would fuel equities. On Wednesday, the central bank will conclude its December meeting and deliver its latest rate hike. Investors largely expect a 50 basis point increase – or one half of a percentage point – a smaller bump after four consecutive 75 basis point hikes. New York City Postpones Enforcement of Automated Employment Decision Tools Law, Will …

As we previously reported, on September 23, 2022, the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) published proposed rules to implement the city’s automated employment decision tools (AEDT) law (Local Law 144 of 2021). Because the proposed rules generated significant interest, the DCWP postponed a hearing originally scheduled for October 24, 2022, in order to designate a virtual platform that could accommodate a larger number of participants. The rescheduled hearing, which was held on November 4, 2022, attracted more than 270 attendees, including at least fifteen who provided comments orally. In addition, the proposed rules generated a high volume of written comments. With the January 1, 2023, effective date of the law looming, the DCWP announced on December 12, 2022, that it intended to convene a second public hearing and postpone enforcement of the law until April 15, 2023. While no date for the public hearing has been furnished, this news comes as a reprieve for employers and employment agencies that hire or promote candidates for employment within New York City and utilize automated employment decision tools in a manner that could come within the scope of the new law. The New York office of Ogletree Deakins

Pickford Collects 50th Cap But England Exit World Cup – Everton Football Club

Jordan Pickford won his 50th England cap but was left bitterly disappointed as the Three Lions exited the 2022 World Cup with a 2-1 defeat to France in the quarter-finals. Everton's number one, who made three clean sheets in the tournament, could do nothing about either of France's goals - scored either side of a penalty from Harry Kane, who also missed a second spot-kick late on. France took the lead on 17 minutes when Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni arrowed a superb 25-yard drive into the corner of the net. Gareth Southgate's side responded excellently, though, and deservedly equalised nine minutes after the half-time interval when Kane converted a penalty after Bukayo Saka had been brought down by Tchouameni. Pickford was on hand to make a stunning save to keep out Olivier Giroud's effort 12 minutes from the end - but the AC Milan striker was not to be denied less than a minute later, powering home a header after Antoine Griezmann's inch-perfect cross. There was late drama when VAR intervened and England were awarded a penalty for a cynical barge on substitute Mason Mount - but Kane could not repeat his earlier feat and blazed over from 12 yards.
