LinkedIn reinstates post by Air Force vet who said 'I'm not responsible for your college debt'

LinkedIn has apologized for deleting a post by a conservative Air Force veteran extolling the virtues of hard work and refusing to take responsibility for others' student debt, as the Biden administration considers wide-scale loan forgiveness.Gretchen Smith, 49, shared a post across her social media accounts Thursday featuring a photo of herself in uniform alongside a more recent shot.'I am not responsible for your student debt. I grew up in poverty in the mountains of NC. Ate from a garden, name was on community Angel tree for Christmas, bought clothes from yard sales & if I was lucky, on a rare occasion Sky City,' she wrote, referring to a defunct chain of discount stores.'I joined the Air Force then went to college. I made it happen.' The Microsoft-owned social network restricted her account and removed the post the same day, citing a violation of its 'policy on hate speech,' according to screenshots shared by Smith on Twitter.Smith, a Tennessee resident who runs the nonprofit Code of Vets to help veterans in times of crisis, immediately appealed the decision. On Sunday, the site apologized for the 'mistake' and reinstated her account. The incident highlighted the battle over the $1.7 trillion in outstanding student loan…

Amazon argues that historic union vote in New York was TAINTED by national labor board

Amazon is demanding an overturn of the historic union victory at one of its New York City warehouses, arguing that the organizers and the National Labor Relations Board tainted the results - while founder and chairman Jeff Bezos tweeted six days after the vote to celebrate being named LinkedIn's top company. The e-commerce giant listed 25 objections in the filing obtained by The Associated Press, accusing organizers with the Amazon Labor Union (ALU) of intimidating workers to vote for the union, a claim an attorney representing the union has called 'patently absurd.''Based on the evidence we've seen so far, as set out in our objections, we believe that the actions of the NLRB and the ALU improperly suppressed and influenced the vote, and we think the election should be conducted again so that a fair and broadly representative vote can be had,' Kelly Nantel, an Amazon spokesperson, said in a statement on Friday. Amazon claimed the independent federal agency's regional office, which oversaw the votes at the Staten Island warehouse, known as JFK8, 'unfairly and inappropriately facilitated the ALU's victory.' The company claims that the Congress-backed National Labor Relations Board used an 'artificial reduced number' of employees to calculate the ALU's vote, after…
