Daniels Signs with Gamecocks for Fifth Season – University of South Carolina Athletics

COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s basketball head coach Dawn Staley announced that Brooke Quarles Daniels (Macomb, Mich./Michigan/L’Anse Creuse North) will join the Gamecocks for the 2026-27 academic year. “Brooke’s wealth of experience will help us right away, as will her combination of skill and toughness,” Staley said. “She is a proven winner and a high-level competitor who will bring immediate value to our team.” A 5-foot-7 guard, Daniels spent the past two seasons at Michigan, earning Big Ten All-Defensive honors in 2026 after ranking second in the league with 2.4 steals per game. Predominantly a starter as a senior, her two seasons in Ann Arbor yielded 5.1 points, 1.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game to go with her 1.7 assist-to-turnover ratio. The Wolverines reached the NCAA Tournament in both of her seasons, including a run to the Elite Eight in 2026. Prior to Michigan, Daniels was a standout at Oakland, capturing All-Horizon Leage Second Team status both seasons. Oakland’s first Horizon League Freshman of the Year (2023) was also the only freshman to earn a spot on the league’s all-conference team that season. She followed that effort with a sophomore season that saw her lead the team in

Indoor Golf Club Opens on LA’s Westside in 2026

Stableford, a private golf and wellness club built around indoor simulators rather than fairways, will open its 13,000-square-foot flagship clubhouse in West Los Angeles in late 2026, marking the first new private golf club on the city's Westside in more than 50 years. Located at 2055 S. Barrington Ave. along the Brentwood-Santa Monica corridor, the club is designed to fold golf into the rhythm of a workweek — early mornings, weekday evenings and social nights — rather than the four hours a traditional round demands. Construction is underway. The club takes its name from golf's Stableford scoring system and was developed by co-founders Sanjay Mattela and Drake Walker in response to what they describe as a supply gap in one of the country's most undersupplied golf markets. "It's really a combination of land cost, availability and regulation," Mattela, the club's chief executive, said of the decades-long drought in new Westside clubs. "Building a traditional private golf club on the Westside today would be incredibly difficult." What has changed, he said,  » Read More

Fara Homidi Enters the Mascara Category – WWD

Fara Homidi is diving into a new category. Developed over four years and housed in an acid-yellow vessel, Pool Slick Lash Lacquer, $48, is the brand’s first mascara. Available now at farahomidi.com and sephora.com, the product is offered in two shades — Absolu (glossy black) and Cabana (walnut brown) — and boasts the barrier benefits of tubing mascara but with a sleek, damp-like finish. The eponymous founder said she was inspired by the women who swam and sunbathed by the pool at her apartment complex when she was a kid. “I just remember when they would come out of the water, their eyelashes would be water-sheened and a little bit darker, and glistening and so beautiful, almost like they were wearing mascara without it being mascara,” she recalled. Related Articles Paloma Elsesser for Fara Homidi’s new Pool Slick Lash Lacquer, $48. While the formula consists of plankton extract, pink pepper and pomegranate seed oil to stimulate the hair follicles, hydrate and darken the lashes, the star feature is the precision-curved wand. Made with solid brush fibers, the applicator combs and controls the placement of the product so the finish is clump-free. And like most other innovations in the brand’s assortment

The North Penn School District posted a statement on its website Thursday night confirming the unnamed educator has been placed on leave, barred from district property and told not to contact students. The authorities do not currently have evidence to suggest any students in the district or surrounding areas were victims, according to the statement and they do

17-Year-Old Suspect Arrested In Shooting at Morgan Hill Birthday Rave That Left One Dead

Investigators combing the field where the shooting took place. Photo via Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office A juvenile suspect has now been arrested in connection with the July 25th mass shooting at a birthday party for a Twitch streamer in a Morgan Hill field that had been promoted on social media. According to a release from the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office, deputies executed a "high-risk" search warrant in connection with the investigation on Thursday, August 27, at a home in a Salinas, in Monterey County. In the course of serving the search warrant, deputies arrested a 17-year-old suspect, who was safely taken into custody. The arrest comes following an offer of a $20,000 reward for tips earlier this month, which resulted in numerous tips and videos being submitted. The sheriff's office collaborated with the FBI on the investigation, with the FBI putting up the reward, and the FBI's involvement may indicate that authorities believe there was a gang connection to the violence. "Those responsible for this senseless shooting should know that the FBI and our law enforcement partners at the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office will use every available resource to identify and hold them accountable," said FBI San

‘Oreogate’ on Instagram went viral. But was it all a fake ad for an AI company? – Business Insider

Oreogate is about a mom asking other parents not to send Oreos to school. Kevin Carter/Getty Images The situation is relatable to anyone who has been in a parent WhatsApp chat: one person says something ridiculous, and everyone else has to react with varying degrees of politeness or directness. Side chats ensue, tensions start to boil. Oreogate is a series of viral Instagram posts from user @ashleighjamz about a fight over kindergarteners bringing Oreos for lunch in a classroom group chat, and it hits that exact nerve. Over 13 videos (so far), the saga unfolds. The mother of "Ava" asks the other parents in the group not to send Oreos in their lunches because Ava isn't allowed to have Oreos. Ava came home upset and asking for Oreos after seeing another girl with one. The other moms refuse to accommodate this unreasonable request and continue sending Oreos. The other children share their cookies with Ava, and the angry mother says she has complained to the teacher. (To get the full experience, you need to watch the videos.) The series has gone viral, with coverage in the New York Post, AdAge, and other news outlets. The first video in the series

Pa. teacher charged after allegedly targeting girls on Snapchat – WGAL

Pa. teacher faces federal charges after allegedly targeting underage girls on Snapchat A Montgomery County elementary school teacher is facing federal charges after being accused of targeting dozens of young girls online. 39-year-old Eric Sanville, a former teacher at Gwynedd Square Elementary School, is facing decades behind bars after investigators say he used Snapchat to manipulate children as young as eight years old. According to court documents obtained by NBC10, the investigation began in July after Snapchat reported two accounts that appeared to be targeting young girls to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Investigators say the IP addresses tied to those accounts led them to Sanville. Court documents say that Sanville directed girls on how to take nude pictures while pretending to be a teenage boy by using a picture he found on Facebook. Once the allegations came to light, Sanville was ordered off school property and ordered to have no contact with students. Police do not believe any of the children involved attend any of the schools in the North Penn School District, including the school where Sanville was a teacher. The North Penn School District Superintendent sent a letter to parents notifying them of the
