Interactive livestreaming service Twitch hacked – Hindustan Times

The interactive live-streaming service Twitch has been hacked. The company, which is owned by Amazon, has confirmed the breach even as it is yet to know its extent. There is clarity on some of the specific user data that has been leaked, including creator payouts on Twitch as well as the source code for the mobile, desktop, and video game console versions of the app. There seems to be a concerted effort by the hackers to share Twitch’s tools and codes rather than individual account details. An anonymous user on messaging board 4chan has released a 125GB file dump downloadable as a torrent file with the claim that it includes all of Twitch’s commit history. That includes the payout data for Twitch creators, believed to be for the last three years, or about 2.4 million streamers active on the platform. There was no confirmation about any usernames and passwords being included in the data that has been breached. That the Twitch app source code has been leaked is a matter of concern. While it is believed that Twitch usernames and passwords have not been leaked, there may be the chance that those details have been accessed by hackers, who have…

Opinion: Unrealistic beauty standards exist for boys, too – Scot Scoop News

Raina LahiriPopular social media apps such as VSCO, Tik Tok, Instagram, and Snapchat promote “the perfect body,” fostering unrealistic beauty standards for girls and boys alike.I think everybody would agree that in a world run by social media, society has inadvertently created unrealistic beauty standards for girls. Seeing curated photos of already beautiful girls while scrolling through Instagram on a daily basis can cause immense psychological damage and lead to the development of insecurities, and in some cases even eating disorders. But in this day and age, most people seem to know that. The harmful effects of social media on girls’ body image have become a serious topic and are finally being acknowledged by society. That’s great, right? Let’s talk about the boys. Unrealistic beauty standards for boys exist too; people just don’t talk about it as much. Social media promotes the idea of the perfect person, regardless of gender. In the boys’ case, “perfection” is defined by a never-ending list of requirements: being at least six feet tall, muscles, abs, jawline, and more. This concept of “the perfect boy” is promoted all over apps such as Tik Tok and Instagram, in a way that I would argue is much…

Ofcom rules call for Twitch to better protect users from harmful content – NME

UK regular Ofcom has set out new guidelines require video-sharing platforms (VSPs) like Twitch to do protect users from harmful content. READ MORE: ‘Battlefield 2042’ preview: cracking fun, but oversimplified As reported by BBC News, these platforms – which include Twitch, TikTok, Snapchat, and Vimeo – must take “appropriate measures” to protect users from content related to terrorism, child sexual abuse, and racism, with the regulator claiming, “a third of users have seen hateful content on such sites.” Under the new rules, sites like Twitch will have to provide and effectively enforce clear rules for uploading content, make the reporting and complaints process easier, and restrict access to adult content with robust age-verification. Those found breaching the guidelines will be subjected to fines, while serious cases may result in suspension of the entire service. Credit: Thomas Trutschel/Photothek via Getty Images Ofcom said one of its main priorities in the coming year would be to work with VSPs to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse material being uploaded. Minors (under-18s) must also be protected from material which might “impair their physical, mental or moral development”. While this would not mean Ofcom would be assessing individual videos, and acknowledges it’s impossible…

Lane Kiffin takes to Instagram to show off popcorn haul after viral interview on Saturday

Sydney Hunte | 2 hours ago Lane Kiffin provided one of the most viral moments of the 2021 college football season thus far on Saturday, infamously cutting his pregame interview with CBS’s Jamie Erdahl short after advising her and viewers to “get your popcorn ready” ahead of Ole Miss’s game against Alabama.Of course, things didn’t go well for Kiffin and the Rebels as they fell 42-21 to the Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa. Kiffin, though, has never been afraid to poke fun of himself on social media, and he took to Instagram on Wednesday to do that once more.He posted an Instagram story with a number of jugs, bags, and even a 22-pack of popcorn that had been sent to him with the caption “Thanks for the gifts!” You can view the photo below:We somehow don’t see Nick Saban doing something like this. Then again, we don’t see Saban declaring something like “Get your popcorn ready” before a game either.Kiffin continues to march to the beat of his own drum, and if nothing else, he’s injected a lot of fun into college football.
