FOX 10's Lauren Clark reports. MESA, Ariz. - A Mesa family is suing Snapchat, after their son died from an accidental fentanyl overdose. In the lawsuit, lawyers for Zach Plunk's family argue Snapchat is acting as a go-to platform for drug dealers, and want to hold the company accountable. "This is a tragic story of a 17-year-old boy who made a bad decision, but not one that should have ended his life," said Matthew Bergman with the Social Media Victims Law Center. Bergman is representing Plunk's family in the lawsuit. Two years ago, Plunk was a happy teen, and a football player at Hamilton High School. Following an injury, Plunk's family said he purchased what he believed to be percocet on Snapchat. Story by Brad McElhinny Prosecutors have called a former Kanawha County school counselor “a sexual predator of the most egregious variety” even as a scheduled sentencing was delayed. Federal prosecutors have asked for a 35-year sentence for former counselor Todd Roatsey in a memorandum filed in U.S. District Court for Southern West Virginia. Todd Roatsey Todd Christopher Roatsey, 43, of Elkview has pleaded guilty to charges of attempted production of child pornography and attempted enticement of a minor. Prior to the guilty plea, Roatsey had faced 13 charges. Roatsey worked at Pinch Elementary School from August 2012 to last November. The sentencing had been scheduled to take place today. But during a telephone conference this week, a judge agreed more time is necessary to finalize restitutio9n for victims. (WFLA) — A sixth grader was arrested after making threats to shoot up their school on Snapchat, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies said a parent of another student found messages sent to their child referencing a school shooting and contacted the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators said they also found several messages referencing killing people and shooting up the school. Detectives went to the 12-year-old Indian Trails Middle School student’s home and questioned them. A Royal Oak man charged with targeting underage girls through Snapchat has been sentenced to 11 years in federal prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.Nikolas Boris Mariani, 21, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge David Lawson, records show.He previously pleaded guilty to coercing and enticing a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity and receiving child pornography.“The sentence handed down in this case reflects the serious nature of the crimes committed by this defendant, which are particularly troubling given his repeated efforts to harm and exploit minors,” said James A.
