Police: 18-year-old killed during sales transaction

SAN DIEGO — Police say an 18-year-old had arranged to buy an item through Snapchat before he was shot and killed in the Midway District on Wednesday. Officers responded to the area near 3600 Midway Drive at 6:16 p.m. after 911 calls about a crash and shots fired. They found Eduardo Salguero, 18 years old of San Diego, shot inside a car. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, San Diego police Lt. Matt Dobbs said. “When officers and paramedics arrived on scene, they found a gray Acura had collided with a retaining wall in the access road behind the businesses,” he said. “They located a male behind the wheel who was unresponsive. When they removed him from the vehicle, they discovered he had sustained at least one apparent gunshot wound.” Detectives learned Salguero arranged to buy an item through Snapchat, Dobbs said. Salguero drove to the location to meet the sellers and when he arrived, two men entered his vehicle and one shot him prior to the crash. The suspects were described as Hispanic between 20 and 30 years old in dark clothes, Dobbs said. It’s also believed the men suffered significant head, leg and arm injuries when Salguero…

Snapchat says it’s still working on its new short video function. Spotlight short videos still need to be reviewed and there is no comment function for them so far.

Teenager who sent naked picture 13-year-old girl tried to blame his friend

A TEENAGER who pressured a 13-year-old girl into sending sexually suggestive pictures pointed the finger of blame at a friend when caught by police. Jarryd Alexander, 19, left his victim suffering severe anxiety and on the verge of suicide. Chelmsford Crown Court heard how he struck up a conversation with the girl via Snapchat, initially engaging in “friendly conversation” and feeding her compliments. But Alexander gradually steered the exchange towards sexual questions. When he first asked for a “nude picture”, the girl said no. The pair eventually exchanged pictures with the defendant sending his victim a picture of himself wearing no underwear. Police traced Alexander through his mobile phone and he was quizzed over the exchanges. After naming a friend who had access to his Snapchat account, the friend was interviewed under caution. Kate Davey, prosecuting, said: “The defendant named him and put him through the indignity and embarrassment of an interview under caution.” But police saw through Alexander’s lies when they analysed the picture he sent, matching his features to the photo and identifying his bedroom. On his phone, police found seven indecent pictures of another girl, aged between 15 and 16. Alexander initially denied causing or inciting a…
