Police: Fontana Man Posed As 16-Year-Old Boy To Talk To Teen Girls On Snapchat, Kik, Tik Tok

FONTANA (CBSLA) — Police say a Fontana man arrested on suspicion of possessing child pornography has been posing as a 16-year-old boy to talk to underage girls on several social media outlets. (credit: Fontana Police Department) Edgar Carrizalez, 27, was arrested on Oct. 28 after Fontana’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was notified by authorities in Grapevine, Texas that they were investigating a case involving a 12-year-old girl who had been contacted on Snapchat and was sent an unsolicited, vulgar sexual photo. The investigation led to Carrizalez, who was arrested at his home in the 9300 block of Kempster Avenue in Fontana. A parole search uncovered child pornography on his electronic devices, and evidence that Carrizalez had been posing as a 16-year-old boy in order to communicate with teens on social media platforms, including Snapchat, Kik, Tik Tok, Discord, Frog What’s Up Friend, and Spotafriend Meet Teens App, according to Fontana police. Investigators say Carrizalez would often use the screen names Kekid45 and Kyleyou1 on these platforms. Carrizalez is being held without bail. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in this case on Wednesday. Detectives say they believe there are more victims in this investigation. Anyone with information about Carrizalez can contact Fontana police’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force at hkouroubacalis@fontana.org. CBSLA Staff Comments

Snapchat now lets creators show off their subscriber counts

Snapchat is now allowing creators to publicize how many subscribers they have. This is the first time Snapchat has given its users any sort of public-facing metric about their followings or audiences, and it represents a substantial change to the platform, as first reported by Tubefilter. In a statement to The Verge, a Snap spokesperson said: “We’ve listened to feedback from our creator community and many of them expressed interest in having the option to show that their community on Snapchat is growing,” which is why it’s making subscriber counts visible. Creators can decide to turn this feature on or off from their settings. The company introduced creator profiles in September, which gives users on the platform more insights on their audience and helps them coordinate with brands. The fact that Snap’s saying its creators wanted to show off their growing community with public subscriber counts, suggests that they want a public-facing metric to demonstrate how successful they are for brands. On Instagram, for example, brands often look at follower counts and engagement rates to gauge how big a creator is on the platform. On Snapchat, brands would have had to ask creators to share those details before committing to a deal. Making those metrics public streamlines that conversation and helps creators and brands determine whether a deal might work between them. This then could lead to Snapchat becoming an overall more creator-friendly platform where more influencers see an opportunity for business.

For eCommerce, Snap advises that brands should feature the focus product/s ''front and center', while local businesses should look to specifically highlight the services and/or products they specialize in. "For example, a local restaurant can showcase popular dishes or specials in their ad creative to entice customers to visit."  3. Make your ads feel native to Snapchat Snapchat also says that brands should look to align their creative with the native platform experience, in order to provide a more integrated user experience. For this, Snapchat advises that your ad duration should be a non-intrusive 5 to 6 seconds. Snap also notes that ads which feature…

Manitoba man used Snapchat to meet and sexually assault teen: police

WINNIPEG -- The Manitoba RCMP said a 61-year-old suspect used Snapchat as a means of meeting a teenager, who was then sexually assaulted. Mounties said in November 2019, a teenage boy, who is under the age of 16, reported he was sexually assaulted by a man he met on Snapchat. Police noted the teen agreed to meet with the man, because he pretended to be a high school student on the app. Officers allege when the two met, the teen was sexually assaulted. RCMP officers, including investigators from the Internet Child Exploitation Team, investigated the incident, and were able to access information from social media platforms. Police were able to gather enough evidence to arrest a suspect. On Oct. 29, officers arrested Dana Dadson, from Flin Flon, Man., and Bakers Narrows, Man., for child sexual assault, as well as a number of other charges related to interactions with an underage person. None of these charges have been proven in court. At this time, police said they learned of another alleged victim, who is also a teenage boy under the age of 16. Officers continue to investigate and are worried there are other victims, noting the suspect not only used Snapchat, but other websites as well. Police said he is known to use an alias when he communicates with teens. Mounties ask anyone with information to call them at 204-687-1423 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Sutton Schools might have a Race Problem

I really didn’t think I’d talk about an issue like this in my second article. My answer to this question was quick- yes. My interest in this matter rose after a protest at Nonsuch High School for Girls in Sutton. I’ve seen a lot of news reports about the event, but I question if any of them understood the event. Most commonly cited as the reason for these protests are a collection of snapchat posts, but that seemed almost dismissive, ignorant of larger problems causing the tensions. I felt that the protest was an act of bravery. It was well thought out, planned by Year 11’s at the school, in response to continuous failings in areas relating to race at the school. But the issue is not solely limited to Nonsuch. The experiences I’ve heard, read, are almost laughable. I wanted to explore these issues at schools throughout schools in Sutton. First, I want to run through some alleged reports about racism in other schools in the Sutton area. They range from the disappointing and arguable (Continuously romanticising and supporting colonialism in assemblies at Wallington County Grammar, reading the n-word in Mice and men- all schools largely, ‘banter’ about jihadis and blacks in prison being permitted by teachers ), to the mildly disturbing(telling Asian students to p** *up, at Wallington County Grammar, attempting to force Hindus to cut off religious bracelets at, up until their parents could verify , banning the congregation of black girls for a period of time due to apparent worries about gang affiliations at St Philomena’s, and a German teacher at Sutton Grammar saying they would be worried to walk their dog in an area with a high east Asian population). Nonsuch The protest which lead to the resurrection of my interest in this topic occurred…
