LOGAN — A 40-year-old Millville woman has been arrested for allegedly taking pornographic pictures and videos of a teenage girl, and then exchanging them with other teenage boys on Snapchat, according to law enforcement. Heidi Marie Williams was booked Wednesday into the Cache County Jail after allegedly telling investigators that what she did was common and how she grew up. According to an affidavit of probable cause, Cache County Sheriff’s deputies received a report in April, claiming Williams would use the alleged victim’s phone, force her to remove her clothing, and take pornographic photos and movies of her. The child sexual abuse material was then traded with boys, in exchange for similar pictures of themselves. A case worker with the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) interviewed Williams and the alleged victim, a relative of the suspect. They both denied the claims. Deputies later spoke to other individuals who also claimed Williams had taken pictures or videos of the alleged victim’s bare chest and in her underwear. The teen girl was in sexually suggestive poses, according to the arrest paperwork. Williams would then reportedly use the alleged victim’s phone or social media accounts to pose as the teen girl.

A Stuart woman arrested April 14 involving sex with a minor faces additional charges. The relationship between the woman and a teen boy became flirtatious and sexual from early summer 2024 to fall 2024. She is in the Martin County Jail on $790,000 bond. STUART — A woman in the Martin County Jail since April on charges involving sexual activity with a minor faces additional charges related to possession of child pornography, according to arrest affidavits. On April 14 around 11:30 a.m. a Martin County detective and deputy responded to a call about a potential relationship between a boy and Jessica Liz McGath, 37, of the 1600 block of Southeast Lafayette Street in Stuart, according to the arrest affidavit. When they arrived, the caller spoke of concerns the boy has an emotional attachment to McGath and they had developed a close relationship over years. The person told law enforcement of 'inappropriate' messages and images on the boy's phone via Snapchat. They said this led them to believe McGath had been grooming and manipulating him. How McGath and the boy met is unclear because of heavy redaction in the arrest report, but the two apparently began spending a lot of time

TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A 58-year-old Taylorville man has been sentenced to seven years in prison after sending child pornography on Snapchat.

One 54-second video depicted Wright and an adult female having sex as the toddler victim pushed on Wright’s hips. The other videos showed Wright exploiting the child in other explicit content, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Ohio. The U.S. Attorneys Office detailed in court filings that local law enforcement agencies received at least three other complaints against Wright involving different child victims between 2019 and 2023, including allegations of inappropriately touching victims at a sleepover. This case also involved Tiffany Morningstar, 23, who was locally indicted in early March 2024 by a Butler County grand jury on seven counts of complicity to pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and two counts of child endangering following a Middletown police investigation. Middletown police began investigating the couple after a complaint from a woman who said she was watching a Snapchat video of a couple known to her who were having sex, and a nude toddler was in the video, according to court documents. The same grand jury that indicted Morningstar also indicted Wright on seven counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and one count of felony child endangering, before his federal indictment.

Snapchat has launched a new digital literacy program, called “The Keys,” which aims to highlight the dangers of online interaction for young users, and better equip them with knowledge on how to protect themselves, and avoid problems in social apps. Snapchat says that The Keys is a first-of-its-kind interactive online safety program specifically designed for teens and their parents. As explained by Snap: “Developed in collaboration with Common Sense Media, informed by safety experts, and reviewed by members of Snap’s teen Council for Digital Well-Being, this program aims to educate teens about four key risks they may face online - bullying, illicit drug activity, nude and intimate images, and sextortion - and teaches platform-specific skills for helping to stay safe on Snapchat.” Snapchat’s Council for Wellbeing is a group of young people, all aged 18 or under, who provide input into projects like this, giving Snap direct user perspective from the target audience.
