A young man who threatened to stab a girl he met on Snapchat if she didn’t become his girlfriend has escaped a prison sentence. Satvik Sangwan was found guilty by a jury last month of causing the woman “fear or alarm” over an eight-day period in October 2023, following a trial at Paisley Sheriff Court. The 24-year-old maintained his innocence throughout the trial and the court yesterday heard his position remains the same. Sangwan had only met the girl on two occasions and committed the crimes while at Lidl in the town’s Renfrew Road and elsewhere in Paisley. The town’s court heard when the scared victim tried to block Sangwan from contacting her on Snapchat, he created another account in a bid to speak to her. LIMA — The Lima Police Department is investigating an apparent homicide that happened Friday evening. According to a release from the department, at around 7:40 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of State Street after receiving notice of shots fired at a family gathering. Upon arriving, officers found Damariante Dillingham, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound. Dillingham was transported to Mercy Health-St. Rita’s Medical Center but later died from his injuries at the hospital. Detectives spoke to several witnesses at the scene and have started to gather evidence on what led to the shooting. The incident was also shown in court from a different perspective – that of the police dashcam.   “The purpose was to film it and post it in their 28-person Snapchat group for clout,” Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Travis Clark said in The Patch article. Prosecutors said that their BMW was upgraded to go over 100 mph and that they changed the license plate to a fake plate after they first got spotted by police.   The crash claimed the lives of two residents, Evan Fiore, 23, and Kiley Armstrong, 21. On the night of March 7, Fiore was driving his Toyota Camry at the intersection of Routes 166 and 37 when the BMW collided with them. The Horry County Sheriff’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force said on Thursday, 23-year-old Justin Martin was charged with five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Justin Martin (Horry County Sheriffs Office) Investigators say they received three tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about alleged criminal activity on the messenger platform Kik and Snapchat. (WTVD) -- A former Raleigh firefighter and his wife pleaded guilty on Thursday to running a large-scale drug trafficking operation. Nicholas Banister, 36, and his wife, Amanda, 26, admitted to using the dark web and cryptocurrency to distribute drugs, primarily in the Glenwood South area. Authorities said Banister bought drugs for resale on the dark web and paid for them with crypto. "The defendant, a Raleigh firefighter, served in a position of public trust, but was hiding in plain sight as he and his wife sold numerous types of illegal narcotics around businesses the community frequently visits," said Acting U.S. Attorney Daniel P. Bubar. "I'm proud of our federal and state partners at the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) and North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (NC ALE) for their hard work, which is holding these individuals accountable and making our community safer." Snap Inc. snapped up the 156K SF lease at the building previously slated for 23andMe’s corporate headquarters in a rare full-building lease deal for Silicon Valley, CoStar reported.  Snap Inc. leased the entire building at 221 N. Mathilda Ave. in Sunnyvale, California. The deal for the Sunnyvale property at 221 N. Mathilda Ave., finalized last week, comes as the social media app Snapchat’s parent company expands its Bay Area footprint. The company also leases a space in Palo Alto. The Sunnyvale deal revives the fortunes of a property that has struggled to secure a long-term tenant since construction wrapped in 2019. The landlord, San Francisco-based Spear Street Capital, recently reacquired the building for $87M, $100M less than what Stockbridge Capital Partners paid for it in 2019. Though 23andMe had preleased the entire project, the pandemic derailed plans to move in as employees worked from home, which drastically reduced the need for office space. The company never moved in, instead subleasing the space to cloud computing company CoreWeave Inc. Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch were hit with a nightmare back home while they were on the road for WWE — their Southern California beach house was burglarized early Tuesday morning. According to TMZ, Cops say the Playa Del Rey property was broken into around 3 AM — just hours after the couple performed at Monday Night RAW in Providence, Rhode Island. Thankfully, no one was inside the house at the time, including their four-year-old daughter, Roux. Law enforcement said the suspect or suspects forced their way in through the rear sliding glass door and made off with cash. Rollins, was the one who made the 911 call to report it. So far, no arrests have been made, and the investigation is still ongoing. The couple has been seen at the home frequently — in fact, Lynch posted a shot of Rollins relaxing in the living room just last month. They’ve owned the property for some time and often spend downtime there with their daughter. This situation is still developing, but it’s a harsh reminder that fame doesn’t shield anyone from crime — even when your day job involves throwing people through tables.
