Good Omens: Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett Always Wanted a Season 2

Neil Gaiman assures fans that a Season 2 of Good Omens was always the plan for him and co-writer Terry Pratchett. Good Omens is getting a second season and Neil Gaiman, co-author of the original novel, says that this was what he and the late Terry Pratchett always wanted. When asked on Tumblr when he decided to keep the story of Good Omens going after the point where the book ends, Gaiman answered "In 2010 when Terry and I agreed to let people go forward with making Good Omens as a TV show, we talked about the shape of the show as a whole and where it would go." The second season of Good Omens will see Gaiman return as showrunner alongside director Douglas Mackinnon and actors David Tennant and Michael Sheen as Crowley and Aziraphale, respectively. In another post, Gaiman discussed how he and Pratchett first brainstormed the sequel in 1989, a year before Good Omens was published. "We fully intended to write it, whenever we next had three or four months free," he wrote. "Only I went to live in America and Terry stayed in the UK, and after Good Omens was published Sandman became SANDMAN and Discworld became DISCWORLD™ and there wasn’t ever a good time. But we…

The ”V” is styled different as explained by the trademark description. The mark consists of the word THE on top of the words DARK PICTURES, stacked on top of the words THE DEVIL IN ME. The letter V in the word DEVIL is stylized, with a magnifying glass attached to the bottom of the letter V. On the left of the mark, there is a left-facing skull with a compass inside the skull.A logo is accompanied with the trademark filing. There are no further details, though that isn’t surprising all considering that the third game in the anthology, House of Ashes, will be releasing in October this year. We likely won’t see anything about The Devil In Me until then.If this is legit, and we believe it is, this is the fourth game of the anthology all published by Bandai…

When I Came Out As Bisexual, I Had A Second Coming Of Age

Photo by Farhan Monir Hussain/EyeEmIf I’m being honest with myself, I realised that I was queer when I was very young. Or I realised that I like girls when I was very young. The first utterance of “I’m bisexual” came at 17, drunk on cider in a dodgy pub in rural Hertfordshire, but it was a watershed moment nonetheless. Seventeen is supposed to be the time for a person’s archetypal coming-of-age moments. Judaism celebrates the coming of age through a bar or bat mitzvah, South American culture through the quinceañera and Catholicism through the confirmation. For a non-religious person like me, however, these moments included first dates, first kisses and first sexual encounters.Significant though it is, the coming-of-age trope is heavily romanticised. One simple definition labels it “the age or occasion when one formally becomes an adult” but when I was a teenager, it felt much more significant. I grew up during the heyday of Tumblr: GIFs of Emma Watson in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, riding in the back of a pick-up truck with her arms to the sky, dominated my timeline. I spent years chasing that teenage euphoria, wishing I could come into my own as everyone else…

Pinterest updates policy to prohibit ads promoting weight loss

Starting today, Pinterest will prohibit all advertisers from sharing ads that promote weight loss. This includes any language and imagery that encourages weight loss, promotes weight loss products, idealizes certain body types, or references the BMI (which is often a poor indicator of overall health). This makes Pinterest the first major social media platform to take this stance. Social media has played a role in promoting harmful beauty standards for as long as it’s existed. But even as “body positivity” has eclipsed the “thinspo” that proliferated on Tumblr a decade ago, sometimes, the trend can be a thin veil for weight stigma. Take a company like Weight Watchers, for example, which re-branded to WW (“Wellness That Works”) in 2018, yet continues to boast its members’ weight loss stories on its website. Even when online content about weight loss is well-meaning, it often contributes to a rise in disordered eating behavior rather than healthy habits, which is why the wellness industry can be so harmful. Pinterest developed its updated ad policy with guidance from the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), which has also worked with platforms like Tumblr and Facebook in the past. Since March 2020, the onset of the pandemic…

What Should Queer Representation in the MCU Even Look Like?

What Should Queer Representation in the MCU Even Look Like? Episode three of Marvel’s Loki gave some fans something they’ve been waiting over a decade to see: a confirmed queer leading character in an MCU property. Loki has been a fan favorite going back to the release of Thor in 2011. (The original Tumblr fandom is living its absolute best life these days.) So it’s no surprise that Loki’s confirmation as bisexual sent fans into an emotional tweetstorm of queer glee. Series director Kate Herron, who is bisexual herself, shared her own connection to the episode. Though she called the inclusion a “small step” in terms of representation in the MCU,  she added, “I’m happy, and heart is so full.” Herron’s statement on the importance of Loki’s bisexuality becoming text marks a major shift in the MCU. Loki’s coming out follows years of fan criticism of the way the MCU has handled queer representation to date. As one fan noted in 2019, with then 22 movies on the books and a host of tangential television properties, “the lack of LGBTQ+ characters and tendency to queerbait characters is beyond frustrating.” (Note: Loki doesn’t use the word “bisexual,” but maybe we can…
