How Meghan Markle, Prince Harry Spent Halloween With Archie and Lili – The Hollywood Reporter

Meghan Markle went incognito at a Toronto Halloween party for the final night ahead of her and Harry’s public announcement of their relationship. During her Thursday appearance on Ellen, which was just announced on Wednesday, The Duchess of Sussex and co-founder of nonprofit Archewell offered a glimpse into how the couple, who have been married for three years, maintained secrecy around their relationship prior to their formal dating announcement. That included obscuring their identities underneath elaborate costumes during a post-apocalyptic Halloween party. The Duke came to visit Markle in Toronto, the former Suits actress recalled, along with his cousin Eugenie and her eventual husband, and the four went out to have fun while remaining completely unrecognizable. “The four of us snuck out in Halloween costumes to just have one fun night on the town before it was out in the world that we were a couple,” Markle said. “We had all this very bizarre costuming on, and we were able to just have one final fun night out.” Since stepping back from their positions as working members of the royal family in March, the historically private duo have been able to do more things publicly as a traditional couple instead…

The Feminine Urge To Listen To Lorde – Bustle

There’s a moment in Season 3 of You, when “fem-gen major” Theo serenades Love (played by Victoria Pedretti) Lloyd Dobler-style. Where this bedimpled youth obtained a boombox is a question for another time, because what’s even more striking is the song choice. Dobler went straight for the mushy ‘80s ballad — Peter Gabriel’s now-iconic “In Your Eyes” — but Theo goes for a post-ironic breakup banger, blasting “Supercut” by Lorde until Love comes running. He’s being a little facetious — “According to all the rom-coms of your generation, this is what the guys do to get the girl,” he says with a shrug — but there’s also some earnestness in his yearning for the hot-mom murderer next door. On Twitter, many fans loved it, though some were a little confused. Why did an electro-pop song about heartbreak fit this moment? This isn’t Lorde’s first time serving as TV shorthand for an emotional climax with a complicated denouement. When Jess and Nick finally got together in New Girl, Lorde’s “Green Light” scored the moment, while Euphoria’s special episode about Jules, which aired earlier this year, was soundtracked by “Liability.” So broad is the spectrum of Lorde’s omnipotence that “Supercut” not only served…

Six O'Clock Solution: Simple green potato soup is a Portuguese classic | Montreal Gazette

Caldo verde makes the most of seasonal vegetables and is a comforting dish for the cold days to come. Author of the article: Julian Armstrong  •  Special to Montreal Gazette Caldo verde from Portuguese Homestyle Cooking by Ana Patuleia Ortins. Interlink / Thomas Allen A new cookbook by Ana Patuleia Ortins, a Massachusetts-based author of Portuguese descent, is rich in interesting ways to enjoy autumn vegetables such as carrots, kale, peppers, cabbage and, of course, potatoes. This soup, garnished with a slice of sausage (preferably chouriço or linguiça) is a staple in Portugal. The author, whose two previous cookbooks also focus on Portuguese cuisine, includes directions for how to chiffonade kale for this dish. The slicing technique might sound like a task for a professional chef, but Ortins makes it easy with recollections of how her father would stack kale leaves, tightly roll them up and chop them with a sharp knife into slivers “as if paring an apple.” Advertisement This advertisement has not loaded yet, but your article continues below. A recipe for Portugal’s favourite red pepper paste is also included in this book, titled Portuguese Homestyle Cooking (Interlink/Thomas Allen, $45) and beautifully photographed by Hiltrud Schulz.
