I love these two more than waffles. Warning: There are obviously spoilers ahead for Shadow and Bone Season 1! Shadow and Bone is finally on Netflix, and I can't seem to talk about anything else. Netflix While I love Alina, The Darkling, Mal, and The Crows, my absolute favorite Grishaverse characters are Nina and Matthias. Netflix I literally had to restrain myself from shouting about them to my non–book reader friends who started watching Shadow and Bone. So, to watch Danielle Galligan and Calahan Skogman bring them to life was incredible, and I haven't stopped talking about it. Netflix I mean, some of the Nina and Matthias scenes from the show were taken right from the pages of the Six of Crows duology. Netflix I truly love them more than waffles. Like so many memes before it, the phrase originated on Tumblr and became mainstream when someone tweeted about it. According to the internet historians at Know Your Meme, the first known instance of the phrase was in a Jan. 12, 2021, post from Tumblr user missnumber1111. “Today’s agenda: gaslight gatekeep and most importantly girlboss,” they wrote. Ben Barnes is hot, but Mal and Alina are endgame. The Grishaverse has made it onto the small screen, and the fans definitely have some thoughts about Mal and Alina.
