He’ll split time between New York City, Nashville, and Los Angeles while “scaling the company’s U.S. operations and cementing Believe as a premier partner for growth-minded independent music companies in the region,” reads a statement. Related Previously, Maxwell served in multiple positions at IDOL, where he opened and established the first U.S. office for the Paris-based indie distributor, and led signings including Mexican Summer, Young Art, The Ray Charles Foundation, HighNote Records, Old Soul Music, Roundhill, and Acrophase Records. During his time with IDOL, he worked on key releases from artists including Erick the Architect, Ginger Root, TOKiMONSTA, Cate Le Bon, Channel Tres, Yaeji, George Clanton, and Drugdealer.

The combined company will be 67% owned by German media conglomerate Bertelsmann, BMG’s parent company, and 33% owned by affiliates of Great Mountain Partners, a longtime investor in Concord through a fund that manages money from Michigan Retirement Systems and Great Mountain’s management team. The transaction includes a one-time cash payment of $1.16 billion for Greatm Mountain’s affiliates, according to a statement. With global headquarters in Nashville, Concord’s CEO Bob Valentine will serve as CEO of the combined company. BMG CEO Thomas Coesfeld will serve as chair as the combined company’s chairman and, as previously announced, Coesfeld will assume the CEO role for Bertelsmann beginning in January. At first I livestreamed, but the audio quality of the livestreams were poor, often to the point of illegibility. So I began recording and posting the comments one or two days after the meetings. At this point the sound quality varies by commenter, and is about the same as for a person sitting in the audience.
