Called Direct, the platform is currently rolling out in beta with select artists but will expand in the coming weeks. Courtesy Image Trending on Billboard DistroKid has launched a new direct-to-fan platform that will allow artists to quickly create custom merch, the DIY distributor announced on Wednesday (Oct. 29). Called Direct, the platform will allow artists to transform the artwork from their albums and singles into custom t-shirts, tote bags and mugs that can be produced on demand and shipped to fans across the globe. Artists will have the ability to set their own prices and keep 100% of their earnings from the sales; DistroKid says it will not charge shipping fees and will replace lost or damaged items for free. Related Direct is currently rolling out in beta with a select group of artists, but will expand wider in the coming weeks. “Direct is one more way DistroKid helps artists at every step — before, during, and after they release music,” said Matthew Ogle, DistroKid’s chief product officer. “We’re building simple tools that let artists share what they create, from music to merch and beyond, and connect directly with the people who care about them most.” Built on technology infrastructure

Halle Bailey & DDG Settle Custody Battle, Drop Domestic Violence Claims — for Now

Both musicians are reserving the right to revive domestic violence claims "upon a further incident of abuse." Halle Bailey and DDG attend the 66th GRAMMY Awards at Crypto.com Arena on February 04, 2024 in Los Angeles, Calif. Emma McIntyre/Getty Images for The Recording Academy Trending on Billboard Halle Bailey and DDG have temporarily agreed to share custody of their son and drop domestic violence claims against each other, putting a halt to the musicians’ messy legal battle after months of back and forth. Bailey and DDG (Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) had been fighting in family court since this summer over custody of their nearly two-year-old child, Halo. The proceedings got ugly, with Bailey accusing the 28-year-old streamer and rapper of physical abuse and DDG claiming the 25-year-old singer and actress is mentally unstable. Related But the two artists have put their differences behind them, at least for now. A settlement docketed on Monday (Oct. 27) sets forth a temporary custody arrangement lasting for the next four months, and Bailey and DDG agree to mediate in “good faith” to reach a more permanent plan afterwards. The settlement also sees both Halle and DDG dropping their competing requests for domestic violence restraining

Self-censorship and the ‘spiral of silence’: Why Americans are less likely to publicly voice …

by James L. Gibson, Washington University in St. Louis, For decades, Americans’ trust in one another has been on the decline, according to the most recent General Social Survey. A major factor in that downshift has been the concurrent rise in the polarization between the two major political parties. Supporters of Republicans and Democrats are far more likely than in the past to view the opposite side with distrust. That political polarization is so stark that many Americans are now unlikely to have friendly social interactions, live nearby or congregate with people from opposing camps, according to one recent study. Social scientists often refer to this sort of animosity as “affective polarization,” meaning that people not only hold conflicting views on many or most political issues but also disdain fellow citizens who hold different opinions. Over the past few decades, such affective polarization in the U.S. has become commonplace. Polarization undermines democracy by making the essential processes of democratic deliberation – discussion, negotiation, compromise and bargaining over public policies – difficult, if not impossible. Because polarization extends so broadly and deeply, some people have become unwilling to express their views

Diddy’s Prison Release Date Revealed: How Soon Will The Convicted Mogul Be Set Free?

An estimated date of release for the convicted rap mogul has been disclosed in federal prison records – but a lot could happen to change it. Sean "Diddy" Combs speaks during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference National Town Hall on September 21, 2023 in Washington, DC. Jemal Countess/Getty Images Español Trending on Billboard Weeks after Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to over four years in prison on prostitution convictions following a sweeping sexual abuse case, inmate records posted by the federal Bureau of Prisons show that Diddy, 55, is now expected to be set free on May 8, 2028. Combs had already been expected to serve less than the full sentence, thanks to roughly a year of time-served as he sat in jail awaiting his trial and verdict. But the newly-revealed release date would represent an even-earlier release than previously thought — only roughly two years and seven months after his date of sentencing. Such dates are just estimates, reflecting the “inmate’s projected release date based on BOP calculations.” The earlier-than-expected date could reflect that Combs will serve the final few months of his sentence at a residential reentry center, or halfway house, or his participation in

Rethinking polygamy – new research upends conventional thinking about the advantages of …

by David W. Lawson, University of California, Santa Barbara, In July 2025, Uganda’s courts swiftly dismissed a petition challenging the legality of polygamy, citing the protection of religious and cultural freedom. For most social scientists and policymakers who have long declared polygamy a “harmful cultural practice,” the decision was a frustrating but predictable setback in efforts to build healthier and more equal societies. In the vast majority of cases, polygamy takes the form of one husband and multiple wives – more precisely referred to as polygyny, originating from the Greek words “poly” (“many”) and “gynē” (“woman or wife”). The opposite arrangement of one wife and multiple husbands is referred to as polyandry (from “anēr” meaning “man” or “husband”) and is exceedingly rare worldwide. Critics of polygyny present two main arguments. First, they contend it squeezes low-status men out of the marriage market, fostering social unrest, crime and violence against women by frustrated unwed men. Second, it harms women and children by dividing limited resources among more dependents. This logic has led leading political scientist Rose McDermott to describe polygyny as evil. Other researchers, such as anthropologist Joseph Henrich, even go

At Least Six Killed Over the Weekend as Israel Escalates Lebanon Strikes – Antiwar.com

IDF claims at least two top ranking Hezbollah leaders slain, provides no evidence After killing three people in strikes on Thursday, Israel has continued to escalate strikes against southern and eastern Lebanon over the weekend, with at least six more people confirmed killed and several others wounded in various attacks. Two were killed and two wounded on Friday in a drone attack on the town of Toul, in the Nabatieh District. The drone attacked and destroyed a vehicle in the town, while the IDF statement claimed to have attacked a “military camp” and killed a top logistics leader for Hezbollah. As usual, no evidence of the Israeli claim was actually offered, and the Lebanese Health Ministry reported the casualties without any identification suggesting any of them were in any way in league with Hezbollah. The strikes continued Saturday, with one man killed in a strike on a vehicle in Haruf, also near Nabatieh, and another person wounded. An Israeli drone also attacked a motorcycle in al-Qlaileh, killing another person. Here again, the IDF was crying Hezbollah leader, claiming the Haruf man was actually a top commander in Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Forces, without evidence. Despite the group’s supposedly small size and

Taylor Swift’s ‘Showgirl’ Breaks Canada Chart Records & More News – Billboard

Trending on Billboard Taylor Swift is breaking multiple Billboard chart records in Canada. As with many of the artist’s recent releases, Swift’s new album, The Life of a Showgirl, has been a blockbuster success since its release on Oct. 3. Related According to new data from Universal Music Canada, Luminate and Billboard Canada chart performance, in its first week of charting, Showgirl was the biggest album debut in the country for Swift in the modern streaming era — or for any artist. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, her 15th No. 1 on the chart. With this milestone, Swift is now tied with Canadian icon Celine Dion for the most No. 1 albums of all time in the country and is the only non-Canadian artist to reach that mark. Swift’s last album, 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department, stayed at No. 1 for 12 weeks. Showgirl’s win continues Swift’s streak of 14 consecutive studio albums debuting at No. 1, beginning with 2008’s Fearless and including the four “Taylor’s Version” re-recordings: Red, 1989, Fearless and Speak Now. Showgirl has now cemented Swift as the sole artist with all top 5 of the highest album debuts in
