PHOTO BY CATHY PINSKY It’s the day after the 2025 Tony Awards, and I have the distinct pleasure to Zoom with Tony-, Emmy-, Grammy- and Pulitzer-winner, the uber-hyphenated (singer/songwriter/composer/lyricist/musical director-supervisor-arranger and orchestrator) artist, Tom Kitt. This is the first time in four years that Tom has not had a show in the evening’s lineup, and he laughingly shared that “muscle memory” almost kicked in to start him dressing for the event, only to realize he could watch, clap-for and be inspired by his friends and co-workers, all from the comfort of his couch. That said, he and his wife Rita Pietropinto-Kitt, did attend a number of afterparties, returning home late enough that it was almost morning, so I was doubly grateful for his time and graciousness in speaking with me. A new chapter begins at the HYBE-owned label. Lee Do-kyung Courtesy of ADOR ADOR, the HYBE-owned label behind K-pop powerhouse NewJeans, has appointed Lee Do-kyung as its new CEO. The appointment comes just a year after Kim Ju-young, formerly HYBE’s chief personnel officer, took over as ADOR CEO following the departure of Min Hee-jin in August last year. ADOR’s board stated that under Kim Ju-young’s leadership, the company successfully stabilized its organizational and management structure. With that milestone reached, the board appointed a new CEO to transition into a more agile operating model — one designed to better support artist activities and accelerate business initiatives. Lee Do-kyung, ADOR’s newly appointed CEO, joined the company in 2019, when HYBE was still operating under its former name, Big Hit Entertainment. Since then, she has spearheaded a range of new business ventures and most recently served as Vice President of the IPX Business Division, which oversees artist IP-driven projects such as merchandise and pop-up stores. At the same time, military organizations have struggled to incorporate new technologies as they adapt to new domains – air, space and information – in modern war. The sizes of military headquarters have grown to accommodate the expanded information flows and decision points of these new facets of warfare. The result is diminishing marginal returns and a coordination nightmare – too many cooks in the kitchen – that risks jeopardizing mission command. AI agents – autonomous, goal-oriented software powered by large language models – can automate routine staff tasks, compress decision timelines and enable smaller, more resilient command posts. They can shrink the staff while also making it more effective. As an international relations scholar and reserve officer in the U.S. Army who studies military strategy, I see both the opportunity afforded by the technology and the acute need for change.
