Illinois State University student consulting team develops influencer strategy for Riddell

A team of Illinois State University students participated in the Innovation Consulting Community (ICC), an interdisciplinary client-based course, to assist Riddell, the long-standing leader in football head protection and protective athletic equipment, which services programs across the United States in addition to professional leagues such as the National Football League (NFL). The student team conducted research and brainstormed ideas to create a strategic plan for their client to identify, engage, and execute various influencer campaigns. The three main areas of the team’s focus were InSite Analytics, Tru-Fit technology (Axiom helmet), and an apparel growth strategy. Alondra Zagal, a public relations major, stepped in as the project manager, leading the team through ambiguity to achieve their professional, final deliverable. “While there were challenges along the way, the sense of accomplishment at the end made it all worthwhile.” Zagal also noted that this project strengthened her skills in project management, teamwork, and client communication skills, which are essential for her future career in public relations. Faculty coach, Professor Peter Kaufman, was thrilled to work on this project, having grown up with the Riddell brand, stating he was especially impressed by the student consulting team’s work ethic, creativity, and resilience, important factors for

AI Legal Analysis: What Book Copyright Rulings Mean for Music Lawsuits – Billboard

While the first copyright rulings have come out on the side of AI platforms, this is hardly a death knell for the music giants' lawsuits against Suno, Udio and Anthropic, legal experts say.  Getty Images Two recent court decisions struck a blow for book authors suing generative AI platforms on copyright grounds, with judges concluding that training large language models (LLM) on unlicensed books is “transformative” and thus constitutes “fair use.” While that left many to question whether music companies’ own infringement lawsuits are similarly doomed, legal experts say it’s far from clear that this same reasoning will apply to the music industry — and the rulings might even provide a roadmap for the labels and music publishers to strengthen their cases. The court opinions on book copyrights — by two California federal judges who used different reasoning, but arrived at the same conclusion, to end authors’ claims against Anthropic and Meta — sent shockwaves among stakeholders in the debate over generative AI, since they were the first to rule on the issue of fair use. They also seemed to bode poorly for the labels and music publishers suing Anthropic and the AI platforms Suno and Udio for training their

US Envoy: Disarm Hezbollah or Israel, Syria Will Conquer Lebanon

Syria denies reports of escalatory tensions with Lebanon In comments in an interview with The National, US Ambassador to Turkey and special envoy to Syria Tom Barrack warned that Lebanon faces an “existential” crisis if they don’t give in to US demands to fully disarm Hezbollah and all other armed factions by November. “You have Israel on one side, you have Iran on the other, and now you have Syria manifesting itself,” Barrack insisted, adding that if Lebanon doesn’t give in to the demands both Israel and Syria are liable to just carve up the area as Bilad al-Sham, or Greater Syria. “If Lebanon doesn’t hurry up and get in line, everyone around them will,” Barrack cautioned. The US recently issued demands or Lebanon to disarm everyone, though last week Lebanon responded after Hezbollah made it clear they would not disarm simply because of US demands. Tom Barrack with Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa | Image from X While Barrack presented himself as “unbelievably satisfied” at the time, which was less than a week ago, his current comments suggest he is anything but, and rejecting the US demands seem to have escalated into full-scale threats to wipe Lebanon off the map

He had previously pleaded not guilty to a more serious charge of unlawfully and maliciously causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Brown’s co-defendant, Omololu Akinlolu, a fellow musician known as Hoody Baby, also pleaded not guilty to a charge of actual bodily harm in connection with the same incident.
