Hearthstone: New Quality-of-Life Features Coming in Patch 23.2 – Game Rant

Hearthstone introduces three highly-requested quality-of-life features alongside Battlegrounds and Mercenary changes in its upcoming patch. Hearthstone recently announced Patch 23.2, full of bug fixes and new content for Battlegrounds and Mercenaries. Hearthstone also introduced three new quality-of-life features coming to the game when the patch goes live on May 10th. For Hearthstone players who pride themselves on collecting Golden cards, the highly-anticipated Upgrade feature is finally coming to Hearthstone. This feature is not just convenient–the full Arcane Dust cost of the base card is applied to the cost of the Golden Upgrade, rather than the Disenchant value, meaning Upgrading a card costs less dust than crafting the Golden copy from scratch. Players can also share Hearthstone deck codes through the in-game chat system, allowing players to easily share decks with one another. This allows players to show off their latest wacky deck with a friend, or swap strategies for ladder climbing and rank grinding, without having to rely on outside chat programs. Lastly, players can now Favorite multiple card backs. This allows players to add several card backs to their Favorites list and have one pulled randomly each time a default card back is used by the game. These are…

40K Game Developers Criticised Over Ridiculous Twitch Drops – Kotaku

Screenshot: Complex GamesComplex Games, the developers of the new Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, have issued a statement apologising to players after running a campaign where certain in-game items were only available to those who sat through some Twitch streams.Via PC Gamer, while Complex probably thought they were running a fairly standard (by 2022 standards anyway) release window promotional stuff, the nature of the items and the fanbase/platform in question weren’t having it. Here’s an example of a negative review left on the game’s Steam page as a result, one of many that presumably prompted the statement:The game would have gotten a thumbs up but for one thing. The developers for some ridiculous reason decided to put 11 ingame items(not skins or cosmetics but actual weapons and armor) behind twitch drops on the day of release. In order to get these items you not only have to create and link a Frontier account and a Twitch account but you have to watch hours and hours of inane twitch streamers prattling on instead of actually playing the game you paid for. They also are timed so if you miss them you miss them forever. If there was another way to earn…

Twitch Streamers are 'Reacting' to the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard Trial, and It's All Wrong

Reaction streams on Twitch are arguably the most engaging type of content put out by Just Chatting streamers. The category has, in one form or another, always existed on the internet, perhaps because it captures the attention of audiences in a way that other video content cannot. Online reactions create an environment in which audiences and content creators can share the experience of watching something for the first time. As far as what they react to, there have naturally been plenty of Twitch trends over the years, some of them good, some bad, and some downright weird. Most recently, however, the increase of live reactions to the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial has come across as morally questionable at best. It's true that Twitch users are within their right to react to whatever content they want to, whenever they want to. Practically no one will argue that this creative freedom should change. Still, this sort of trend does beg questions about what sort of content viewers want to see online. Given the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard lawsuit, it may be a good time to take a step back and reconsider the attitude toward online drama—and this applies…
