Athena eclipses Ludwig, Pestily with 1000-hour Twitch subathon – Dexerto

Late on September 24, in the early hours of the Dallas morning, Twitch star Athena will hit 1000 hours live, eclipsing subathons from Ludwig, Pestily, and more. Dexerto sat down with Alejandra to talk cracking the massive milestone, her two-year challenge, and how she’ll celebrate. Last month, Athena had — in her words — a “really bad month.” Motivation-wise, the 25-year-old had struggled to get onto Twitch every day, and was mainly just punching numbers to keep her two-year challenge (going live every day for 730 days in a row) alive. The Rocket League star found herself considering ways she could “revitalize” herself, and landed on a subathon. “I watched Mira do her subathon, and then she capped it out just before 1000 hours. Seeing how her community reacted, how much fun it was, it was why I decided that I could go for that 1000 hours,” Athena said. The Twitch star “needed something to keep going,” and an uncapped subathon seemed perfect. 42 days later, she’s still streaming 24 hours a day. G2 EsportsThe Twitch star currently boasts 544k followers, and growing. Athena could have been forgiven for sounding a little tired when I called her up on September…

League of Legends honors Tyler1's new Challenger ranking with new Twitter profile picture

Tyler1, one of Twitch’s biggest names, reached Challenger on his fourth account yesterday. This time, he only played games in the mid lane. Following his successful bid at reaching Challenger, the streamer requested that Twitch and Riot change the banner image on Twitch to reflect “the face of League of Legends.” While this didn’t come to fruition, Riot did honor him by changing the official League of Legends’ Twitter account’s profile image to a picture of him earlier this evening. Twitch hasn’t given any word of its plans to honor the streamer, but there is still a chance that something similar could come to the platform. The image not only puts Tyler1’s face on Tibbers and includes Annie, the mid lane champion of choice for his run to Challenger. According to op.gg, while playing Annie, Tyler1 achieved victory in 64 perfect of the 157 games he played. Other popular champions for the streamer were Fizz, Irellia, and Akshan. Now having completed mid, top, jungle, and AD carry all the way to Challenger rank, only support stands in his way. It seems likely that Tyler will wait until next season to begin his climb, but having completed the mid lane challenge…

Cedric the Entertainer Talks Hosting Emmys on Rolling Stone's Twitch

Cedric the Entertainer hosted the Emmys for the first time and it also marked the show’s return to an in-person, vaccinated, unmasked ceremony following the Jimmy Kimmel-hosted empty theater event in 2020. The comedian and actor discussed his experience as Emmys host on Rolling Stone’s Twitch. Cedric says that the event took ample precautions due to the pandemic, saying that they required numerous tests: “getting your nose just tickled off for days in a row,” he quipped. “I say that, but it was real.” “I don’t think you could have got in there with dandruff,” he joked. “There’s no way you could have gotten in there, let alone with Covid. It was serious.” Still, while Cedric opened the show with a riveting a salute to Biz Markie — featuring a performance of the late rapper’s “Just a Friend” with LL Cool J, Rita Wilson, and rapper/Dave star Lil Dicky — it was followed by the night’s first presenter Seth Rogen, who addressed the elephant in the room. Rogen pointed out the pandemic is still happening and they were all inside “this little room” that was not outdoors. In the Twitch, Cedric attributed Rogen’s remarks to his fondness for weed. He…

Twitch reveals new process for dealing with unauthorized music use – Yahoo

Twitch has struck a deal with the National Music Publishers' Association (NMPA), but it still wouldn't give streamers access to songs they can legally use. In fact, as Billboard points out, it's not a licensing deal at all. According to the publication, the Amazon-owned livestreaming service made a financial settlement for past usage of licensed music on the platform. Twitch has also told creators in an email that it's putting together a new process that publishers and right holders can use to report content. The new process is different from a DMCA and will start with a warning instead of a penalty. When a rights holder reports a stream, Twitch will issue a warning and remove the clips containing unauthorized music. In case of a flagrant violation — say, the rebroadcasting of concerts and the leak of unreleased tracks — then Twitch may issue a penalty outright, depending on the user's history. In its email, Twitch says the new process is more forgiving of users who may have inadvertently caught music they have no authority to use in their streams. Mike Futter of Virtual Economy Podcast notes, though, that the new process just makes it easier for music publishers to flag users…
