That funny little creature twitching his pink skin – Yahoo News

“Bloomsbury” is a neighborhood in London, but it is better known today as the group name for the area’s most famous 20th-century residents: a collection of British artists, writers, and intellectuals, including Virginia Woolf, E.M. Forster, and John Maynard Keynes, whose anti-establishment views changed the course of modern culture. The members of the Bloomsbury Group promoted free verse and free love. They wrote anti-war pamphlets, showcased post-Impressionist art, and published books via the Hogarth Press, established by Leonard Woolf and his wife, Virginia. They jokingly called themselves the “Bloomsberries.”Clive Bell and the Making of Modernism, a Biography, by Mark Hussey. Bloomsbury, 578 pp., $40.The linchpin of the group was Virginia Woolf’s sister, Vanessa Stephen (1879-1961), who married the art critic Clive Bell in 1907. Vanessa, Virginia, and their two brothers lived at 46 Gordon Square, in the Bloomsbury neighborhood near the British Museum, where they hosted the group’s meetings. Their house became a magnet for cultural elites such as D.H. Lawrence, T. S. Eliot, Aldous Huxley, Pablo Picasso, and others.Bell was part of this clique of trendsetters, but he was and is one of the least appreciated. Known primarily for his seminal 1914 book Art, Bell promoted modernism to a…

Spawn Together campaign surpasses $1 million fundraising goal for AbleGamers charity – The Verge

Steven Spohn passed a goal this week that he’s been chasing for nearly a year. He raised over a million dollars for AbleGamers, a charity that seeks to improve accessibility in games and connects disabled people with peer support and adaptive tech for gaming. Spohn has been its COO for 15 years. The charity’s mission, he says, is about giving people with disabilities access to “that sense of independence and that feeling of exploration or excitement or relaxation, whatever it is you’re going for, to help you mentally get through the tough times.” Spohn has multiple progressive illnesses that impact his functioning. He started the fundraising campaign, Spawn Together, in September of last year to celebrate his 40th birthday. He says he hoped that more funds for AbleGamers would enable it to continue its work as he eventually loses more mobility or the ability to talk or type. “I just want to make sure that when I’m not able to do that stuff, that everything’s gonna keep going as well as it can,” he says. Today is my 40th birthday! For my 39th birthday, I made friends with @TheRockTo celebrate this milestone, I'm going to raise $1,000,000 for charity. But I'm going…

SunChips Promotes Individuality With 'Be Your Own Wave' Campaign 08/19/2021 – MediaPost

by Steve Ellwanger , 2 hours ago  The first campaign for SunChips in four years is a design-led effort aimed at rejuvenating a brand that’s been around for more than three decades.“Be Your Own Wave” is a play on the whole-grain snack’s unique, curvy shape and a call to action for younger consumers to embrace their individuality.Consumer research led to packaging design changes before the campaign concept was conceived, according to Ciara Dilley, vice president of marketing at Frito-Lay North America.“Design-led thinking is critical for this brand,” Dilley tells Marketing Daily. “When we had done all the visual work, only then did we go to our agency and say ‘now bring us a campaign.’ Once we got that far, it wasn’t hard.”In the core 30-second spot from The Marketing Arm agency, Asian-American actress Deborah Lee Yi takes on the role of Stephanie—who walks along a beach while introducing musician Drew Forde, mural artist Erin Miller Wray and skater/dancer Keon Saghari.advertisementadvertisement The first iteration of “Be Your Own Wave” focuses on artists partly because “they’ve had a really hard time during COVID,” says Dilley. As the campaign progresses, “We can see how we can start to bring even more and more real-life…

House of Twitch's biggest female star catches fire in suspected arson – The Washington Post

On Friday Aug. 13, Kaitlyn “Amouranth” Siragusa spent a whopping 14 hours on camera. However, this was not the unusual part of her day; as one of the most tireless streamers on Twitch, she racks up hours with workmanlike consistency. The curveball didn’t come until later, well into the evening, when a strange gleam outside Siragusa’s window signaled that something was amiss. Upon closer inspection, the cause quickly became clear: Garbage stacked against the outside wall of her Houston, Texas, home — and precariously close to both her and her assistant’s cars — had burst into flame.Fortunately, firefighters arrived before the fire could spread enough to do serious damage, but the implications of the incident are worrying.“The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, but investigators strongly suspect arson,” Siragusa wrote on Twitter of the incident, of which The Post has viewed both a video and photos.Story continues below advertisementSiragusa is, in terms of hours watched, the most popular female streamer on Twitch. In the second quarter of 2021 alone, viewers spent nearly 13 million hours watching her — roughly double that of Siragusa’s closest competition. But notoriety and controversy often go hand in hand, and this goes…

Valkyrae's Twitch channel can't be found and somehow it's good news for Sykkuno – Dexerto

100 Thieves co-owner Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter hasn’t streamed on Twitch since she signed a contract with YouTube. How Twitch is handling her account over a year later has left her speechless.  Since signing an exclusive contract with YouTube over a year ago, Valkyrae has definitely stayed too busy to think about Twitch and her 1.1 million follower account. The creator has starred in a music video with Machine Gun Kelly, in which she plays the faceless YouTuber and musician Corpse Husband, as well as becoming an official co-owner of 100 Thieves alongside CourageJD, Drake, Nadeshot and a few other investors. During an August 16 stream on YouTube, Valkyrae received a comment in chat: “Did you know if you search your name on Twitch, it shows Sykkuno?” YouTube: ValkyraeValkyrae has gained popularity in recent months by appearing in multiple music videos. Valkyrae reacts to the search results After reading the chat message out loud, the streamer responded, “Hold… hold up. HOLD UP!” before opening the Twitch homepage and typing her name into the search bar. After a couple of seconds staring at the screen, she yelled: “Whta? HUH?!” before scrolling halfway down the result page and yelling out “Valkyree?! One?!” —…

Asmongold predicts “massive” WoW changes coming in next major patch – Dexerto

Legendary Twitch star Asmongold is predicting that WoW will be seeing some monumentally huge changes in upcoming patches that will either make or break the iconic MMORPG. World of Warcraft has been bleeding users in recent months, thanks in part to other games rising the ranks and Blizzard’s own issues, both pertaining to WoW and the company as a whole. Now, the popular streaming personality is claiming that fans will be in for some crazy new updates soon that will change the game forever. “I think WoW needed this,” the streamer revealed. “They needed this, because odds are the executives and the leadership that’s in charge of the game will see this and they will restructure the team. I guarantee you that they will.” According to Asmongold, these changes have been needed for many years, with the current team being too slow to make decisions, unwilling to listen to the players, and constantly making mistakes.  Read More: The best race for each class in WoW Shadowlands “The team that works on WoW doesn’t know what they’re doing,” he added. “You don’t lose over 50% of your player base and get to claim that you know what you’re doing.” The Warcraft…
