The EVO 2021 Online Series is the lead-up to the Evolution Championship Series 2021 Showcase that will be held this November. This year, due to restrictions imposed by the pandemic, the fighting game tournaments are being held completely online with side tournaments being held from July 8th until August 3rd. Players will be split into geographical regions and then region locked. Once this series completes, the winners will be invited to face off in Las Vegas at the EVO 2021 Showcase (hopefully) live and in person. This online series is split into two weekends with the first starting August 6th and the second starting August 13th. xQc hits back at Olympic Committee with counter-claim over Twitch DMCA ban

During his highly anticipated return to Twitch following the fourth ban in his streaming career, xQc revealed that he and his legal team plan to contest the DMCA strike that earned him another unwilling vacation away from the platform. No stranger to controversy involving his streaming platform of choice, Felix ‘xQc’ Lengyel was banned from Twitch for the fourth time in his career after broadcasting bits and pieces of the Tokyo Olympics on his channel. During his first stream back after the brief hiatus, Lengyel revealed that instead of accepting the DMCA strike, he plans to fight back against the copyright claimant by filing his own DMCA counter-claim to have the strike dismissed. Twitch / xQcOWFresh off his ban, xQc revealed that he plans to fight the DMCA strike against his channel. As he fired up his homecoming stream, the Canadian content creator recapped the situation that landed him in hot water, and provided some additional context that his fans might not have been aware of. “Normally, strikes don’t get you banned,” he clarified, “but because it was a live strike, they banned .” He then explained that while DMCA-related bans normally last 24 hours, this suspension dragged on…

Angry Neighbor Breaks Into Twitch Streamer's House and Destroys Their Setup

One Russian Twitch streamer's live stream is interrupted by an intruder breaking a window to enter her home and knocking over her computer. Twitch live streams are interrupted by events happening in the everyday lives of Twitch streamers from time to time. Usually, these events are harmless--or at least small-scale--inconveniences, but sometimes a streamer's audience gets a glimpse of something more concerning. Recently, Russian Twitch streamer girl__fighter, known as Victoria, had her home invaded mid-live stream by an intruder who broke her window. The stream shows her and a friend pleading with him to stop before he seems to knock over her gaming set-up. Victoria is known for streaming both video games and pole dancing sessions, and her pole dancing set-up is visible behind her during the home invasion recording. The invader may have been focused on her gaming set-up, or he may not have had time to go after more of her belongings before one of the girls appears to have maced him. The video has since been pulled from Twitch, which may not be surprising considering the stringent and labyrinthine guidelines that led one Twitch streamer to be banned for three-year-old videos, but mirrored versions are still available on sites…

Hot tub streamers abandon Linktree after crackdown on “inappropriate content”

A stealth change to how Linktree handles redirects to potentially inappropriate content has some of Twitch’s most prominent hot tub streamers abandoning the site. Linktree is a website that allows content creators to provide links to all their channels and pages in one neat place for viewer convenience. It hasn’t come without controversy, however. Many Twitch users have expressed concerns that being allowed to feature Linktree on channels is an exploit certain streamers use to indirectly promote their more adult-themed content. By having Linktree as an in-between from Twitch and sites such as OF, streamers can get around certain rules pertaining to what content is acceptable to link to on the platform. LinktreeLinktree now has a sensitive content warning. Linktree cracks down on mature content A stealthy update to how Linktree handles such links is forcing some streamers to move away from it in favor of similar tools without the same restrictions. On July 12, Linktree announced that they would begin enabling sensitive content labels by default on certain domains. Prior to this, users could manually choose to enable restrictions or not.  Read More: Pokimane slams sexist Twitch donator after “sh**ty” comments about Hafu If users click on a link…

Pokimane Slams Sexist Fan in Viral Twitch Clip

Being a popular female on the Internet, Twitch streamer Imane "Pokimane" Anys has to deal with a lot of sexist nonsense, including from her own viewers and donators. During a recent stream, one viewer attempted to guilt the streamer into reversing their ban after they made some repulsive comments. As you would expect, this didn't work. Rather, Pokimane took the opportunity to slam the twitch viewer and their behavior. To understand the situation, you have to go back to 2008 when a World of Warcraft team played under a name that targeted and harassed Rumay "Hafu" Wang, another popular Twitch streamer. According to Hafu -- who brought up the incident in light of the spotlight that has been put on the work culture of Activision Blizzard -- it was all swept under the rug at the time, by, you guessed it, Activision Blizzard. On Twitter, and during a recent stream, Pokimane brought up this incident and expressed her disgust that it was allowed to happen. As Pokimane talked about all of this, one of her viewers was banned. Rather than leave like their ban suggested they should, the viewer threatened to unsubscribe if the decision wasn't reversed. This prompted Pokimane to view…

TimTheTatman Cosplays As Dr Disrespect

TimTheTatman becomes the next streamer to cosplay as Dr. Disrespect after receiving a Chipotle Supply kit with a vest resembling the Doc's. Love him or hate him, Dr Disrespect has certainly made a name for himself in the streaming community. While the popular streamer plays a variety of different games from the FPS genre, a big part of Dr. Disrespect's notoriety comes from his unmistakable appearance. Recently, TimTheTatman decided to cosplay as the Doc during a livestream. Tim's cosplay of the Doc came together unexpectedly during part of one of his streams where he chats with members of his community. Apparently the idea to dress as Dr. Disrespect came to him after receiving a TimTheTatman Chipotle Supply kit. Amongst the various items included in the box, there was a vest reminiscent of the one worn by the Doc. After leaving the camera for a few moments, Tim returned wearing the vest and a pair of Oakley sunglasses, calling himself "Timmy Tenders." Even though he had a slight resemblance to the actual Dr. Disrespect, fans of the streamer instead began to call him "Dr. Foodrespect" due to the vest's pouches for condiments and utensils. The Doc apparently approved of this latest attempted…
